I dined there with my youngest son about two months ago. We thought it was O.K. Last Thursday I went there with my wife, trying to take advantage of the "buy one get one free" deal of Alexander's 3 year anniversary celebration. The same young and friendly waiter served us. My wife requested to separate the lemon butter from the seafood dish because of her acid-reflux problem.
What do you know? The chef (and the owner too?) seemed to practice "hell kitchen" tactic. He raised hell in the kitchen and refused to do so. We could overhear the whole conversation across our table. Afterwards he loudly critized the way our waiter brought our dishes. Finally, he made a fuss when we correctd the bill which did not reflex the discount. Although my wife did not finish her plate, we left 18% tip for the poor waiter.
Based on the taste of the dishes and the professionalism of the owner/chef, we will never visit that restaurant again!
Food is outstanding. Have eaten here several times with wife and kids. Intimate enough to enjoy with or without kids. Service is always outstanding. On our last visit I had the grilled redfish and my wife had the veal picatta. The redfish was fresh and the horseradish sauce on top really complimented the fish without overpowering it. The veal picatta was also excellent, its hard to go anywhere in Jackson and get quality veal cooked right (i.e. where its not confused with country fried steak).
Would recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic italian food.
My wife and I have eaten there many times, and have always had good service and have always enjoyed the cuisine. On a recent visit to celebrate a special occasion, the service was absolutely terrible. I gave a note to the owner describing the service, and asked him to read it. Interestingly, I never received an apology, or even worse, any response.
I would have to assume that with the lack of any response,(A) the owner could not read my writing, or (B) the restaurateur did not care that one of his patrons had a bad experience in his establishment. Bad service can happen, but a cavalier and non-caring attitude by the owner is totally unacceptable and inexcusable.
