I moved to the Midwest from California. I loved New York-style pizza, but never understood Chicago-style until I tried Rosati's (seriously, I wasn't even a fan of Giordano's).
Yes, it takes time for the pizzas to get made - Chicago-style pizza takes time to make even if you're sitting in a restaurant (and I waited 45 minutes for dining service at Giordano's from the time we ordered) so I'm usually patient with the wait. Delivery service can take up to an hour, depending on how busy they are and particularly on the weather (if the weather is really bad, it can take a bit longer)
Here's the good news - the pizza is delicious. They don't skimp on toppings. They load those pizzas up like crazy and they're huge. A medium stuffed pizza, one of my favorites, can easily feed an entire family due to the size of the slices and how much food is included.
The prices may seem expensive (I just ordered a medium stuffed pizza that was half spinach and mushroom with half mushroom, pineapple and ricotta cheese which cost $26), but the serving sizes will easily feed several people with leftovers (and who doesn't like cold pizza the next day?) so the prices seem VERY reasonable when compared to how big a slice is.
Furthermore, the delivery drivers are prompt and friendly. I have never had a pizza show up cold, sodas show up warm or any other common complaints that many people have with pizza places. Furthermore, they take care to make sure that each order is accurate. I've never had a topping mix-up (which is important since we're all vegetarians here) and I've never had to call them back out because something was overlooked.
I can't speak to the pick-up service at Rosati's, but the food and delivery service are phenomenal - heck, they managed to convert a New York-style pizza fan into a Chicago-style pizza fan which is an accomplishment :)
I heard so much good thing about the Pizza. So I stopped by after work to order a Buffalo chicken deep dish. Oh my God! I waited for more than half an hour. It costs $20 for a 12". When I got home, I looked at my Pizza. It looked like a lot of grease on the top with a piece of paper on it. I tasted it. It was like eating a bottle of salt! There was nothing but big globs of cheese! If you have high blood pressure like my husband, stay away from that place! It was the most disgusting Pizza I ever had!
It's not all that. The deep dish lacks the traditional buttery crust. The pan pizza with the braided crust is just nasty. Delivery takes at least an hour regardless of the day of the week. The price is not that great either. I have paid less for better tasting pizza in Chicago.
