| About: | Located in Downtown Honolulu directly across the street from the historical Hawaii theater, this restaurant is intimate and inviting. The cafe is filled with personal touches, warm spiced colored walls and African Caribbean artwork. The menu features several traditional items like Ropa Vieja and Picadillo, but the Pollo Soul de Cuba is a fantastic experience with flavors of mango, guava, beans and rum. This is the perfect spot for a pre-theater dinner or a post work gathering but by all means do not leave until you've had one of their mojitos, which many say are the best on the island. - Lottie Tagupa |

Soul De Cuba is the best! The food is awesome and the staff is warm, friendly, and attentive. Great place to take a date! They make you feel like you are part of their family. The sangria is dangerously delicious-I want the recipe!I will absolutely be back for more:)
I love Soul de Cuba!
The staff's service is much more attentive and respectful than is typical in Hawaii.
Beware: it is a teeny restaurant with tons of popularity, so I wouldn't go on a Friday or Saturday without a reservation.
As for the mojitos: fabulous! Made by hand, and even come by the pitcher.
The food is Afro-Cuban and delicious.
My only other rebuttal is that for a restaurant that doesn't offer a fine dining or upscale experience the price point is a little high. (Most entree are 18-25 bucks). In the end, though, I pay it--gladly every time.
Soul De Cuba was good...but that's about it. I would return. There's something about the place that I can't put my finger on. We had made reservations for four well in advance for a 5:30pm dinner. We had arrived about 45 minutes early but they took us right in. Two hours and two pitchers of sangria later, our tab wasn't too bad. Had Arturo Sandoval come out and start playing the horn, I could have thrown another star onto this review.
