Best food I have had since I moved to St. Louis last summer! My fiance surprised me by taking me here for my birthday in April. I hadn't had Indian in awhile and was craving it. I don't remember their name, but love the cracker-like bread they serve when you first sit down. Garlic Nan and vegetable samosas were slightly different than some of the other ones I have had, but VERY good. Love their chutneys, especially the green one. I had the Punjabi Special Dal (lentils). Not my favorite Indian dish that I have ever had, but very good as well. My fiance had a lamb kabob. I don't remember which one it was, but it looked excellent and he LOVED it. I tried the sauce that was on the side of his entree and it was amazing. Was nice hearing that sizzle headed over to our table when the food arrived. They gave us extra rice when we asked. They also threw in extra chutney in our to-go bag.
We had a reservation, but didn't need it. It was early evening on a Saturday. Wait staff were professional, prompt, and friendly. Atmosphere was very classy and spotless. We didn't sit there, but they have the nicest bar I have ever seen in an Indian restaurant.
The only thing I didn't especially like was being seated so close to two of the other customers when it wasn't busy. They were annoying, constantly sending their food back and complaining because it was too spicy. The manager was gracious about it though.
Was a great experience. I am glad because my fiance had never been to an Indian restaurant before. We definitely plan to return for more. I think I'd like to order extra to take home next time. We would also like to try their lunch buffet. Would be a great way for my fiance to try several new dishes. I am getting really hungry just thinking about the place!! Wish we could go right NOW!
Best Indian food in St. Louis. I've eaten here many times and the food is always great. Plus the service is very friendly and they're always helpful in suggesting a new dish to try.
One of the simple joys of life is to experience new things, new cultures and for me, new cuisine. I will have to say, this is the first Indian restaurant I've stepped foot in and it won't be the last.
I visited on a Sunday and ordered the buffet to have the opportunity to experience as many dishes as possible and I found the food to be well-prepared, tasty and a great value. The Chicken Tikka Masala is to die for and the Nan bread is perfect to scrape the plate of all remaining sauce. I tried a bit of everything and even this "meat and potatoes" man even enjoyed the vegetarian dishes.
So, if your palate is in an experimental spirit...try Flavor of India, you'll be back...I know I will.
