Great food, amazing building, fine service, pricey, valet parking, decent-sized menu, servings of salad were small, servings of soup were ridiculously small (but delicious!), entree portions were satisfactory, and the maps to the restaurant are wrong!
The menu is very upscale and the food is supurb. The dishes are inventive and prepared to order. Presentation is quite impressive. This is by far the best restaurant to be found in the area. It is truly a fine dining experience.
a nice surprise in the mtns: It's hard to find an honestly good restaurant even in a city, and even harder in a rural area - people will tell you that whichever crummy restaurant they like is the BEST RESTAURANT EVER because they really like the chicken fingers there. So I was very pleasantly surprised to find this nice restaurant offering a modern menu and innovative, well seasoned food, next to an Eckerd in the middle of nowhere. Good looking wine selection - although only a handful by the glass - and a beer selection that starts an ends with Chimay, which is fine by me. Seems like a very safe bet for anyone traveling in the Boone area.

That restaurant is no longer next to the chemist's on the highway. They have removed to an amazing free-standing structure a couple of miles away. Check the address - it's 1200 Dobbins Rd (County Road 1337) just off Hwy. 184. If you liked Artisanal before, the "New" Artisanal is even better.
