Ok, after talking with many different dog owners in DC, it seems that its rather hard to find a good vet. I used Friendship in the past, but thought City Paws might be a good fit, as it was recommended by a friend who was a dog trainer. On the positive side, I will say that both vets (are there 3 now??) were very likeable, friendly, and approachable. . . they were easy to talk to with a great sense of humor and ease with animals. I really appreciated that! However, after spending over $1000 on two trips with little improvement to my dog's skin condition, I was starting to get skeptical. One of the vets told me she would call a specialist and speak with him directly to facilitate better treatement for my dog. This never happened. More than that, after I called several times to follow-up with her, I was told by reception that they are all very busy, and was given the number to call myself. In addition to this, I spent $120 on a blood test (my dog had lost pretty significant weight), and when I called about the test results, they were unavailable (this was several days after they told me to expect these results). I called once more, and when the lab results were still not in, I vowed to find a different vet (mainly I was angry that I was the one doing the calling after they said they would be in touch). To this day, I never received a phone call as to what my dog's blood test indicated. I'm hoping nothing serious. . . right? Thankfully, I have not been in need of a vet since then (this was in November). Any recommendations? I hate that I have become that DC person blogging about a bad experience, but for everyone out there who has spent significant money on an animal they love, I think the least we could all ask for is some decent customer service. . .
Great new vet!: I am continually unimpressed by vets in DC. They seem to either have good care or good customer service, but not both. They either have good care or available appointments, cleanliness or reasonable price. ETC. City Paws staff impressed me right away, the prices were very reasonable, the facilities are impecible and Dr. Knight was wonderful with my dog. I highly recommend this new vet. We are definitely switching from our current vet.
