Who'd have thought that such a fantastic sushi joint could be found in sleepy old Auburn?

The service is friendly. It's VERY clean. There are sufficient non-sushi choices on the menu for any attending non-believers.

The spicy tuna roll is to die for. My daughter loves the bbq eel.

himitsu (meaning hidden or secret in japanese) is an awesome little sushi place in north auburn, right near the dmv. i suddenly noticed this restaurant one night coming home on the bus (i live half a mile away, lucky me!) from school, and it struck me as odd because my son had named his new cat himitsu just a few weeks earlier.

so, enough background...here is why you will love himitsu too:
1. they have a well-trained sushi chef
2. the wait staff is friendly and always willing to explain what the terms mean in a way you will understand (for a sushi newbie like me, this is much appreciated)
3. they make all their sushi seem elegant, from the simplest asparagus or california roll, all the way up to the spectacular tiger and magic mushroom rolls.
4. the sushi is creative
5. the sushi is so flavorful and some are so wonderfully surprising!

i have now been to himitsu multiple times and i have never had a bad experience. in fact, we are now working on getting as many of our friends to try it as is possible! we have friends who used to frequent yamasan and a couple other great places up north. this is their new favorite stop, and anytime we call them up for sushi they now never refuse.

in short, himitsu is probably the best sushi place i have ever tried between everett, washington and eugene, oregon. the experience is consistantly excellent, and the atmosphere is just what i need after a long day at work or a busy weekend. i can't say a single bad thing about it.
