    I just love Sheehan's!

When I was there last Saturday night I looked around and saw the owners of several local restaurants (Taco Sushi, French Market Grille West, Edgefield Grille) dining with their family and freinds. For Sheehan's to be the prefered choice of chefs is all one needs to know about the quality of food there.

The food is always fresh and prepared with loving care. Yes, it does tend to a get a little noisy in there and the "pub" part of the name may be misleading, but when have names become the critical factors on liking or disliking a restaurant??

anyone with an appreciation for great food and spirits will simply love Sheehan's Irish Pub!

I've been to Sheehan's Irish Pub AND RESTAURANT (yes Restuarant is part of the name) dozens of times, and have never had a bad experience. I have never written a positive review about Sheehan's, but felt the couple of illegitimate reviews I have been reading warrant a realistic and informed review.

I have been eating at Sheehan's since they opened during Master's week in 2006, and they have always had something Irish on the menu. They don't claim to exclusively serve Irish food. In fact, I have been to at least 10 Irish pubs across the US (most recently Connolly's and McSorley's in NYC), and NONE of them exclusively serve Irish food. If you want that, go to Ireland.

The menu at Sheehan's changes frequently, and there are weekly specials that are sometimes Irish (last week they had an outstanding Shepherds Pie) and sometimes not. Either way, the food is always excellent. The ingredients are fresh and change seasonally, and the quality is outstanding. In my opinion, it is one of the top two restaurants in Augusta, along with Bistro 491. Although they have Fish and Chips, the rest of Sheehan's menu is definitely several notches above Pub food, with a decidedly Creole flair.

As far as the PUB part of the equation, Sheehan's has Guinness, Harp, Smithwick's on tap(in addition to about 9 or 10 other beers), as well as a variety of Irish Whiskeys. I may be mistaken, but that sounds like the selection an Irish Pub should have. In addition, they have the normal bar selection of bottled beers, liquors, and liqueurs. Sheehan's also has an extensive wine list, although I rarely order from it.

Never, Ever take the word of someone who has only been to a restaurant once, makes assumptions rather than learning the facts, does not eat the food, and decides to write a three paragraph critique that whines because they had to move to a different table. If you have never had to move to a different table at a restaurant, or you have never had rude (very subjective) service, then you don't eat out much. That doesn't mean it's appropriate, but it also does mean you shouldn't wear your feelings on your sleeve and whine to the internet world about it.

BTW - The name Sheehan is a family name closely tied to the restaurant. In fact, I usually see a member of the Sheehan family eating or drinking there every time I visit.

AND - I take my five-year-old girl in there for a date once a month. The key is, you go early (6-ish) before the crowds arrive, and you sit on the patio where it's quiet. Sheehan's is always crowded, and you should make reservations on Friday and Saturday nites. If not you will be waiting a while (I've made that mistake before too).

Mr. Brown, I've visited Sheehan's a handful of times before the experiences detailed in my review, AND eaten the food! (Yes, I actually do tend to eat out much, as I have this uncanny ability to exchange money for goods and services.) While some will undoubtedly find the tone of what I wrote in relation to the fare offered by Sheehan's snide and/or beside "the point", I maintain that the food is hilariously overpriced (say it with me: $20 catfish). As far as the PUB part of the equation, it is true that Sheehan's offers a selection of beers and Irish Whiskeys, but I insist that the establishment would be more appropriately named were the word "Pub" excised from its title. As I choose to see it, having some beers and a couple of token dishes doesn't really make a place a pub, just as the fact that one can urinate into a sink doesn't necessarily make it a toilet.

Don't believe the two thumbs down given to Jane A.'s review; my girlfriend and I visited this place and had an uncannily similar experience with the staff. Our crime was taking the name of the establishment at face value; however, while there might be somebody with the name Sheehan involved in running the place, there is nothing remotely "Irish", "pub", or any combination thereof to this joke of a business.

Our crime, in case you're wondering, is that we had the temerity to stop in and order a beer (it being a "pub" and all). Though we informed the staff from the get-go that we didn't mind sitting at the bar, since we only wanted a couple of drinks, we were placed at a table. Not only did our waitress treat us in an extremely rude manner, but the manager asked us to sit outside halfway through our drinks, so that they could use our table for another party. I have never been more insulted in a place where I was paying money for a good or service.

As for the food, almost all of it is comically overpriced ($20 catfish!), and not the least bit Irish, aside from the token fish & chips and Scotch egg, for which you're going to pay an arm and a leg. There's even a menu item along the lines of "honey-lacquered duck in rosemary sauce," somewhere in the price range of $30! I guess if you're into pretentious, exclusive places with ironic names, then this is your joint; otherwise, save your time and steer clear of it.

Mr. Bojack obviously you did not study the menu very well. its actually pretty funny. First of all, it is called "Irish Pub" which is why the bar is stocked with irish beers and a wonderful selection of irish whiskey. The Pub atmosphere is also a very important part of this restraunt which is why many regular and new costomers gather here every weekend to listen to music and drink, just like at any other Irish Pub. Second, obviously you werent very clear about wanting to sit at the bar.. no one would ever NOT let you sit at the bar. Trust me. And yes, you may have had to move if you were only drinking and not eating, while at most restraunts tables are reserved for eating and the bar for drinking..strange huh? And last everything you stated about the food is WRONG. The catfish is close to 20, at 18..but I have never heard of anyone complain of the 13 dollar fish n chips or the 7 dollar scotch egg! haha! And the duck has no rosemary??? Are you trying to make the dishes sound terrible? Maybe you're confusing the rosemary part with the rosemary mussels?? which is the only thing with rosemary on the menu. And by the way, its only 19 dollars for the duck, not 30. (and the prices have never changed). Please visit Sheehans Irish Pub. It is a great restraunt with great staff and a truly fun and inviting atmosphere. Don't beleive everything you read because if all of this was true Sheehan's would not have a full restraunt every night they are open with regulars and new people who discover it and want to come back for more! thank you!
