Finally a Dog Trainer that spoke my language and helped me understand how to communicate with my dog. Brigitte impressed me with her knowledge, skill and patience. She allows dogs to be themselves and showed me how to shape behaviors by working with my dog's natural inclinations. And when it came down to unwanted behaviors, Brigitte uses her energy and demeanor, just like humans would to make a point and let someone know their action or behaviors were unacceptable. I love what I learn from Brigitte because it all makes sense. For instance, dogs sometimes get reprimanded for setting boundaries vocally. Because their "voice" is a loud intense and straight forward growl saying "back off, you are too close and its making me uncomfortable" when another dog is disrespecting their space, humans unfortunately, will interpret this as dangerous aggressive and scold their dog. This then turns a dog that was simply setting a healthy boundary feel insecure because they have no other way to say, "I don't feel good when you are that close" or "your erratic hyper energy is too much for me" so the dog now feels insecure AND uncomfortable in these situations. What Brigitte showed me one day at a dog park was the difference between assertive and aggressive. It is very similar to humans. Once I recognized this and changed my attitude and reactions, my dog changed his; it was AMAZING! Now park time is fun time.
I highly recommend Brigitte and cannot say enough praise.
