I rented from Dabco for a year at Emerald Downs Apartments, and when I left I gave them my forwarding address for the deposit check. Not only did they mail it to the wrong address (my apartment there), but when the check became lost in the mail as a result, they told me that I would have to wait 30 days before they could cut a new check and there would be a $50 fee to do so. Even though they admitted it was their mistake, they told me it was their policy and that it was still my problem.

They still have my money, and are earning interest on it in the bank. Meanwhile, two weeks later, I still have no check (no, it hasn't arrived in the mail). This is after a year of being a good tenant, prepaying rent for the whole lease, and receiving no complaints from the neighbors.

I agree with other statements that DABCO has the most overpriced apartments in Pullman. They are just another rental company that seeks to take advantage of young college students with no rental experience. They are extremely impersonal and inflexible. Also, the bird problem here in Maple Valley is f*cking disgusting. The buildings are designed so that right above the top floor balcony are the perfect roosting spots for pigeons and magpies. Therefore, the third floor balconies are constantly covered in bird sh*t. The apartment itself is nice enough, but not for the price. I recommend looking elsewhere.

I live in Birch Hills. They are the most expensive two bedroom apartments in Pullman. Living with DABCO has been a nightmare. This winter they weren't even keeping the parking lot clear enough to get well equipped vehicles in and out. When we talked to them about this we where told it was our problem.
The manager's unit has dogs that bark nonstop or howl throughout the night.
In October we submitted things urgently needing fixed on our apartment and didn't get any results until we wrote official letters stating we would move out if the issues where not resolved. We where told in September that covered parking spaces would be assigned within two weeks, its now February and all winter was a battle to get covered parking.
DABCO brags about having such a high satisfaction rating, but that is because they do not renew leases of anyone who has had even minor issues with them. We just received our letter saying they will not allow us to renew our lease. But that is perfectly fine. You could not pay us to live here another year. DRA in Pullman has offered me MUCH better service in the past and I have already signed a new lease with them for a 2 bedroom apartment for $565 a month instead of the over priced $850.
