This place was nothing to be impressed by. When my fiance saw white guys behind the sushi bar, he told me to turn around and leave but I said let's give it a try. He only wants Japanese making his sushi as he feels this is most authentic, and now I understand why.

We sat at the bar and the atmosphere was not all professional. The three guys were all stoned and drinking beers while making sushi. While this might be 'fun' to some, it was a real turn off to me and my fiance when we got rolls that could be eaten in one bite and were ridiculously overpriced for the small amount of sushi we got.

The teriyaki chicken was a ridiculoiusly small portion--they put a lot of fluff on the plate to make it look like there's a lot there. The worst part was after $65 in sushi, we left hungry and proceeded to the nearest grocery store. This place was very disappointing and not worth the money at all.

Ok atmosphere, unprofessional staff, overpriced sushi that is not authentic. You're better off going to another restaurant. The good reviews here must either be from people who have no idea what great sushi is, or locals who smoke out with these guys and hang out on the beach when they aren't making mini sushi rolls.

I am a local here in Tahoe and have eaten at Off the Hook about 40 – 50 times in the past Ten years, I am not a stoner, and don’t even know their staff on a personal level. Their food has always been marvelous and their prices reasonable for being here in Tahoe, You can ever get great discount coupons on line if you know where to look. I would recommend that you don’t take this one time patrons advice, and give them a try. Also….Naked Fish is without a doubt the best sushi in town, Off The Hook a close second. But that is just my opinion, you can decide for yourselves.

Um, I think you are describing the Tahoe scene in general, not this restaurant! I love the vibe here; its got a great atmosphere, with great music and is well-priced. Sushi has never been "inexpensive" anywhere I have gone but this place is fairly priced for a resort town.
