Oh good lord, you YELP reviewers--stop it!

While allowing for "not everything pleases everyone" we have been going to Issy's (and bringing friends and family) since they opened.

Issy, his family, and his employees, have always been friendly, and kept beverages, chips, salsa, and dip(s) full. Note--chips, salsa, and bean dip are delivered shortly after you sit down, to enjoy while you read the menu. Once your food arrives, they'll even ask if you want more--a rare find these days.

The food is fresh, fresh-tasting, and if it is Mexican food interpreted for the American palate, who cares? Ask Issy or his son-in-law Alex about their refried beans--they doesn't use lard! (Chicken stock!) What's in the tomatillo sauce? Way too much work for me, but it tastes awesome! Tamales are awesome, the Santa Fe Enchiladas rock, and while neither of us are wild about the shredded beef, we just don't order it! What do you feel like eating--talk to them, and they'll steer you in the right direction! You want Sandovals or Taco Bell? You know where they are!

If you*don't* like what you ordered, tell them--they'll work with you to make it better. I can only say that you based on observing a few *other* diners' experiences, because my husband and I have rarely ordered something we didn't thoroughly enjoy. And when we have we don't order it again. The menu is long--if you want more than what is listed at lunch, just check out dinner.

As for the guy from YELP who enjoys eating from "an truck," if dog meat tacos and questionable ingredients work for you, fine. If other diners are interested in fresh, well-prepared food served to you by genuinely nice people who want you to leave happy (and want you to come back), come to Issy's.

Great food, cozy atmosphere, and great waitress. If you go in make sure to order the steak, and ask for Lisa. She is the best. You get free chips and salsa and bean dip. And that is the BEST bean dip (and salsa), I've ever had. Many other restaurants charge for that.

Great restaurant. You can't get better Mexican food in the area. The fajitas are great! I always have to get a drink, they are mixed perfectly. If you go make sure to get a strawberry colada.
