My family and I were very dissappointed with the service and quality of food. The teriyaki salmon was over cooked, fishy and bland. The eel over rice was slimey and fishy. At least we know where to go for mediocre over priced japanese food.
Save your money. T have eaten at teppam cooking tables all over this country, this was a terrible experience. We started with a salad that was wilted. The miso soup was good, not great. The fresh vegetables were a joke. The portion size was so small I could count the exact number of mushroom slices on my plate, 4. I ordered the filet mignon and lobster tail, my wife ordered the filet mignon and scallops. The lobster was so tough and stringy I had to send it back. Both of the filets were were tiny and tough - they cut the fillets into about 1/2 squares, I thought I was getting a children's plate. This for $120.00. I am writing this hoping to save someone from a horrible dinning experience. The only positive thing I can say is that the staff was friendly. I would also like to say that I have no idea how the sushi was - so my comments are limited to the cooking table.
We live locally and eat at Yanagi probably twice a month. Sit at the sushi bar so you can watch the artwork in process! It is loud in the restaurant, so if you want a romantic evening, this isn't the place for you. The food is FRESH always...you cannot go wrong with the many different rolls. My husband balks everytime I order the shrimp and veggie tempura---but he always eats it! You will not be disappointed at Yanagi!

I'm not sure where sparky actually was, but I recently ate here at the teppan table for lunch. I had the NY steak and my girlfriend had the chicken. Both meats were perfectly cooked. Everything was delicious including the vegetables, fried rice, and salad. The portion size was exactly what it should be. People who complain about portion size are usually the ones who need to control the amount that they eat The funny part is that this lunch (soup, salad, fried rice, vegetables, and meat for both) was about $35.00 total. Do Not Trust sparky's review. On the other hand, this is the best sushi restaurant on the central coast. Don't go for the lobster or filet. Go for the sushi.
