    I've been going to Sea Save for almost a year now. I think this is probably the nicest cleanest place that deals with Saltwater fish around (they only deal in Saltwater, what does that tell you). I've been to a lot of other fish stores to see what they look like and they are either nasty to the point it's unbearable to walk into or they are just trying to sell you things you don‘t need, not Sea Save. Yeah they don't have a lot of stock in the store, but they are small and working on getting bigger without going into debt. Small man working his way up, who can fault them for that. The “kiddy pools” are cost effective and work well for display, other stores do the same just with long expensive pools. Everything has its own independent filtration which keeps from killing everything when one tank has a problem. The quarantine tanks are great it gives the fish from the wild have a chance with a stress free environment. I have fish from them that they quarantined that have been doing great for a long time. As for the 20 gallon tanks in the back they are not 20 gallon tanks they are 30 gallon tanks with INDEPENDENT filtration (this is key).

    They are working on doing things the right way, and if anyone gets to know John and Bambi they can see their passion and vision for this hobby. They try to educate and guide instead of just selling you something because you think it's pretty. John is definitely a bit different but from my experience usually people that are intelligent are a bit quirky and socially awkward.

    They have the best live rock around, no one has live rock like this. The "aiptasia" that is on it is not "aiptasia" they are a type of anemone which does not multiply like aiptasia does. But if you get the rock home and don't want them a little Joe's Juice will take care of them. I have actually kept some because they are kind of cool to me. But I say if you want to have great live rock you will have to deal with a few bad guys, it's a compromise.

    The "bag specials" are actually great. They are a way to get some nice fish and corals for a fraction of the price. But it's only good if you have your own quarantine tanks, which is stated on their website. Yeah some places may guarantee their live stock but that's because they are over priced and get it back in the long run. I have had trouble with some fish but they are known to be hard to raise such as different types of tangs. I knew going into it they had a high risk of not surviving, but they made up the cost with other things. Plus if you are into this hobby you know everything about it is expensive so if you are able to get some fish for a lesser cost and they don’t survive then you don’t feel like you’ve been raped.

    All an all Sea Save is a good place and they are trying to make people and other stores in this hobby more responsible.

    Quick Tour:
    I've been there twice. They have a big tank in the front for breeding but nothing is for sale. Several of sharks in TINY tubs (and they say they care). Corals in a bunch of kiddie pool tubs that weren't getting enough flow. Most of the corals did not look healthy. Maybe like ten 20gal tanks in the back that had some cleaner shrimp, fire shrimp, some fish. Some quarantine watercoolers (literally). Minimal unpriced dry goods with a high price tag (after asking for price). New Bangaii cardinals in a separate corner tank. Don't believe reviews of "everyone was nice". I've seen ONE guy worked there and it's an unsavory character named John. One other older woman (maybe his mom or something) named Bambi was much nicer than the guy, but was not there on my second trip.

    After asking a few questions about coral and fish, it was easy to see that John either didn't care or didn't know much about the corals (or just doesn't care about customers who don't seem to have alot of money as he kept referring to a doctor). I am a medical doctor myself but I do not flaunt it around. He didn't know about care of certain corals nor did he seem to explain anything. Tried to go into how they were the only store that told the truth. I guess it's hard to lie when you don't know much truth to begin with. And if they truly cared about their livestock they wouldn't be selling "out of the bag" specials to people without caring how the fish looks. The corals were not under good conditions, aiptasia growing on live rock. Not much inventory. Prices were not labeled so they could probably charge different people different prices. John was VERY unfriendly, needed a shower, and needs to get out of the retail business before it crashes. THE WORST store in Maryland. If they were such experts, why weren't they asked to be speakers at MACNA? Do they even know what it is? They keep trying to badmouth House of Tropicals down the street. It's funny cause everytime I'm at House of Tropicals I'm not the only customer. The 2 times I've been at SeaSave I was always alone. TAKE MY ADVICE, STAY AWAY

    BTW, they actually write their own reviews on websites. I overheard John talking to a friend/customer while I was walking around. How he just does it to boost the ratings for the store. You can even see on another site that they had their own name sea save writing a review.

    A++++++++++++++++ Store! WOW!!!
    I walked into this store expecting to be nothing special. Boy I was dead wrong, I was greeted by staff and they answered all of my questions thoroughly. Everyone I have met so far is very friendly and very knowledgeable. If they don't have somthing in stock they are more than happy to order it for you. I would reccomend this store over any other store especially that other tropic store. These guys here quarentine ALL of their fish before they touch the tanks.. They have very good pricing on ALL of the stock. K.M. Glen Burnie
