To Whom,
The following is regarding a waitress with the initials L. B. at the Marine Blvd location.
We are regular visitors to Waffle House both locally and when traveling. There have been many times when we have had to request coffee refills, wait on food, or receive the wrong food. This was marked off as low self esteem due to low wages by corporate management.
Two weeks ago, Daniel Whaley went to the Waffle House on Marine Blvd. This establisment is visited by us several times weekly along with the one on Western Blvd. He made his order, received his food, but had to request another cup of coffee. The waitress returned with a to go cup or travel as if this were a hint. When Daniel paid his bill, (All Star - the same as always), he was overcharged. This has always been the same price. This time the tax of $1.00 and Daniel decided this was a small amount and ignored the extra. The change from his $20.00 was eight dollars and change which would mean his bill would have been $11.00 plus. When questioned, she could not figure the mistake, supplied Daniel a few more ones, and he decided it was not worth the aggrevation and left.
Since then, the visits have been in the evening or at another establishment. Today, March 19, 2008, he returned to have breakfast. The same waitress was present. She took his order for the All Star and brought the food to the table when it was ready. He requested more coffee, as usual. Again, while eating his food she brought a to go cup. This time she removed the lid and dropped the cup on the table when filling the ceramic cup from it. This covered the table, Daniel jumped up, but not in time to keep his leather jacket from being covered in coffee. The waitress stated that it was an accident. It was necessary to move to a different table to finish the meal. He had a few bites and left without finishing. No comment was made that he was leaving so soon or that he had not finished.
We are unable to understand this treatment. The waitress even stated how much she loves her job. Perhaps this is the policy of the Waffle House corporate office, after all, corporate sets the standard for policy. Is there a limit in the coffee supplied, thus making the customer sit and wait until asking for more? Waffle House boasts about their customer service, but perhaps this is hot air. We would be happy to let folks know that you do not care about your customers.
I suggest that if only one cup of coffee is allowed, or if the to go cup is so that an extra charge can be added, or if you feel the customer does not deserved a second - third - or forth cup of coffee, just verify this with signs on the walls. There are signs for everything else on your walls. We like the food just fine but we can find it elsewhere. Please note that even though there is another Waffle house in the area, this would be excluded as well. Presumably you would have the same one cup of coffee rule there.
Just to be sure this is addressed, I am called the custoer service at 800 432-4365. Spoke with Darrin.
Thank you and waiting for your reply,
