Shatley Springs Restaurant

My husband and I have visited the restaurant many times and have fell in love with the country atmosphere and cooking. Altho it may be rated a B, that does not reflect upon the quality of the food or service you receive. I agree the bathrooms may not be kept as tidy as possible, but when you look at the volume of people that visit the restaurant, some things have to be taken into consideration. We will keep going back regardless. You can't always judge a book by its cover, for those in the WS area, if you are familiar with Pulliams BBQ, you would never walk in the building, but they have the best hotdogs hands down.

I've been going to Shatley since I can remember and i'm 36! We love the downhome country cooking and the atmosphere.Everything is delicious,large portions and worth the wait! Were going tomorrow the 16th to celebrate my mothers 69th birthday and we can't wait! I read some of the other reviews and I haven't had such experiences as nasty restrooms and cold food! The service was excellent and for the price,in my opinion very well worth it! And we eat there very often and as I stated above never encountered NASTY restrooms or cold food! As far as the grade B rating you will be surprised how many well visited restaurants have that rating. I work in the food business and one can recieve that rating for maintenance issues,not just because the place is dirty.Ive seen the kitchen area quite close up and on that particular day as usual they were packed! Of course I wasn't close enough to check the fryer oil,grease traps,or under heated cabinets etc...But let me tell you I used to inspect restaurants in the Richmond area for a company and I shut some of them down quick! I've seen nothing in Shatley to make me If I were in the position to walk up to the general manager and say shut your doors and call the owner! I see a great,clean family establishment that this part of the country should be very grateful for! I am always recommending the place to people and making peoples mouths water telling stories about the place when I'm out of town and will continue to do so! Thanks Shatley Springs for so many memories!

i visited for the first time today with my church group. the food and service was good. the place was very crowded. i was concerned about the B grade.the bathrooms,however, were DISGUSTING! for the prices we paid today, we should have been provided a very clean restroom.

I went to Shatley Springs for the first time today. I LOVED it and hope to return. I Thought the price was VERY reasonable ($14.75 per person for a family style meal) for an amazing amount of food that was absolutely a treat to my taste buds. I did use the restroom and found it very clean. A unique place to visit.

Have any of you had amazing experiences with the Shatley Springs water? We are interested in knowing an analysis of the water today. I believe the one that is published is from many years ago. As for the restrooms, we did not experience any filth. We were there on a day when there were 1,400 reservations. Our party didn't have reservations, and I imagine there were others with no reservations. So, it was a busy day, but twas no problem with the restrooms or the food.
