My two kids were one of the first patients when Dr. Richy started this practice. We love Dr. Richy. It used to be a very friendly atmosphere. Sadly, this practice is losing its personalized, friendly and kind atmosphere with growth. New staff can sometimes be rude on the phone. I recently called to reschedule and I was told in a very rude manner that the hygienist only worked on certain days. Disturbed since I didn’t expect this kind of treatment from this office, I asked to talk to the doctor only because I wanted to alert her of the way the office person spoke to me as I sincerely didn’t want her practice to take a negative trend for I know a ton of people (including myself) who have changed doctors just because the office staff are not nice. (In particular there is girl in the office who seems of an Asian origin who is always straight faced and is matter of fact – no smiles, no courtesy and above all no empathy. Such people really need to be in the back office.) The doctor is very nice and I really wanted to alert her so she can nip it in the bud. But probably they thought I was asking to talk to the doctor to ask for a favor and grant me an appointment for a day when the hygienist wasn’t in, because hours later another associate from the office called to say that they can now accommodate me on the day I requested. I was too busy at the time to pursue this further and set things right, so I just merely ended up rescheduling for a whole new day when the hygienist was scheduled to be in. It was not at all my intention to ask to be scheduled for a day inconvenient to the practice. Another reason that I have changed doctors in the past is when I sensed that the doctor is too busy to talk to me without feeling like I am being rushed. This is very important since after all this is to do with our health and secondly we are paying for the time and service. Sadly, this happened during our last visit with Dr. Richy. In the past the doctor was friendly and had a lot of time to discuss my children’s dental plan and care. But this time, she seemed to be rushed. In fact, during the visit before last, my son’s x-ray showed he was starting to have a cavity. So I really wanted to follow up on that. But this entirely slipped my mind since the doctor seemed to be in a rush and my trend of thought was distracted.
I hope others with such experience will share their thoughts as well, so that this nice doctor and her office can turn things around before they start losing their patients.
But I must say, except for the above dissatisfactions from our last visit, we have otherwise been very happy with the service they provide.
