In my experience, Dr. Torguson is one of the best physicians at what he dose. He is very knowledgeable about medicine in general, but shines in the area of brain chemistry. I understand he is a national speaker on the subject to other physicians. You can tell he loves to teach. I have an advanced degree myself, but it's nice when someone sits down and explains things in terms you can understand. He never pushed anything on me; was willing to work with me in deciding the best course of action. He explained the various alternatives and the possible benefits as well as possible downfalls to any treatment. His guidance was invaluable. I haven't felt this good in years; both mentally and physically. I find his diagnostic approach refreshing. Personally, I had suffered from a genetic condition called depression for years. I tried numerous antidepressants with some relief, but never what I would call "back to normal". Dr. Torguson diagnosed me with a condition called Spectrum disorder and added a mood stabilizer as well as some nutritional supplements. It made all the difference in the world. I can think better, my memory is coming back, and I feel like enjoying life again. Dr. Torguson must have a tough job because he spends most of his time seeing difficult patients like myself, but he seems to have the compassion to do this kind of work. He is kind and understanding. The only problem is that he is hard to get in to and usually requires a referral from your regular physician. That said, it was worth the wait. Thanks Dr. T.

Dr. Torguson saved my life. I was misdiagnosed for a long time with depression. Dr. Torguson took the time to figue me out. He is kind, courteous, knowledgeable, and competent. He especially know his Psychiatry. I have now been going to him for 9 months and he is consistently caring and best of all, on-time. I've never net a more wonderful physician. He is hard to get into since there is a waiting list to get in, but well worth the wait. Kudos to South Lane Medical Group for having him. His staff is also very caring. I've read one of the other reviews and don't understand why that person had a bad experience. Dr. Torguson told me he does well with everyone except people with addictions. It's good he goes the extra mile when working with tough patients. He certainly think outside the box and takes the time to figue things out.

I was a patient of Dr. Torguson's for about a year and a half. He is a family doctor who specializes in Mental Health. Initially he was very friendly but as I continued under his care, he increasingly pushed drugs on me that I neither needed or wanted according to my primary care physician that I was seeing at the same time.
Whenever I would ask about a known side-effect of a drug or bring up a concern he completely dismissed my concerns and told me no drugs he prescribes are dangerous at all. When I cited published studies backing my concerns he became angry that I "didn't trust his medical opinion" and told me I was "pissing him off". I was never confrontational with him and always approached conversations with appropriateness and respect. Talking to patients like this is NEVER appropriate for a doctor no matter the circumstances, obviously.
The last straw for me in deciding to discontinue care with Dr. Torguson was when I politely asked for a referral to another psychiatrist because I and my primary care physician disagreed with the diagnosis he had given me. He told me he "would be happy to give me a referral, but if I do, I want you to know that I will refuse to see you back as a patient."
I was baffled and asked why he would refuse to see me, as I just wanted to get a second opinion from a real psychiatrist (as Dr. Torguson is not one) and then come back to him and discuss the other doctor's perspective with him. He again told me that asking for a referral meant that I "did not trust his medical judgement". I said that that was not the case at all, but he did not listen and again told me I was "pissing him off".
I was shaken and didn't know what to say as he was being very aggressive with me when I was trying to have a peaceful conversation. He also refused to give me a lab slip to get my blood tested to check liver levels of the prescription drug Seroquel which on the Seroquel company's own website recommends periodically checking your liver by blood test. He said I didn't need the blood test. I asked why the manufacturers of the drug recommend this test if I don't really need it, and he said, "Oh, well they just have to say that because the FDA makes them say that." I believe this doctor is in the pocket of the drug companies and I filed an official complaint with Peace Health after this incident which resulted in an inquest which is still ongoing.
I have to say that all the other Peace Health doctors I have ever seen have been incredibly wonderful. The clinic manager to whom I made the complaint was absolutely professional and courteous. I highly recommend all the doctors of Peace Health except for Dr. Lyle Torguson, whom I would never waste my money seeing ever again. Don't make the same mistake I did.

I cannot even comprehend this person's review. If you ask anybody in this community about Dr. Torguson, you will hear the exact opposite of this person's review. My Husband has been a pt of Dr. Torguson's for 4 years and sees him for mental health. We are very satisfied with his care and concern. He spends as much time as it takes to explain medications and side effects. Our marital relationship has improved because of Dr. Torguson's treatment. I have several friends that see Dr. Torguson and agree that he would never tell a pt that they are pissing him off. He has always been incredibly professional
