If there is anything that Muskegon does not have a shortage of, it is Chinese restaurants. There is China Express, Wok 'N' Roll and China Star all on Apple Ave. Red Wok on Sherman Blvd., China Star on Norton Ave., China Palace on Hoyt St., Oriental Express on Airline Rd. and Dah Hu on Whitehall Rd.
What Muskegon DOES lack, however, is a GOOD Chinese restaurant; until now. Of all the Chinese restaurants in and around the city of Muskegon, there is only one that I have absolutely fallen in love with from the firts bite; Bamboo Buffet.
Bamboo Buffet is, by far, the best Chinese restaurant in this area. Their prices are fair at $6.99 for the dinner buffet and includes a vast selection of food for the tin size of the restaurant. It seems to have an atmoshpere that I cannot describe, but is far from the "typical" restaurant in every manner.
The people and staff of Bamboo Buffet are very welcoming and care about your experience. They are very friendly and the service is phenomenal. The dishes are about the same as other places, but the taste of the food is way above the rest.
Above all, I would recommend the Bamboo Buffet to any and all looking for an excellent Chinese restaurant in this area. Though it is small in size, it is big in flavor, hospitality and all around goodness.
The Bamboo Buffet is located at 3474 Henry Street next to the Plaza 1&2 movie theatre. The number is (231) 733-9999. Why not check out this remarkable restaurant. I guarantee that you will not be disappointed.
The coconut shrimp is very nice. The setting is a little awkward though and no lo mein. What's up with that? I would recommend carrying out and going with the coconut shrimp.
Excellent!: If you go to a chinese restaraunt to stare at the usual cheesy picture of the Great Wall, or the "christmas lights" adorning the buffet, this is not the restaraunt for you. If you prefer amazing food with excellent, unpretentious presentation in a quiet atmosphere, without the usual "buffet crowd", then I would definitely recommend this restaraunt. Easily one of the finest Chinese restaraunts I've ever dined at, with very reasonable prices, a very extensive carry-out menu, and none of the cheesy gimmics of those other places, such as adding pizza or spaghetti to their buffet to try to draw people in (didn't know pizza was chinese..... oh, yeah, it's not). I cannot praise them high enough! Oh, and no MSG, either!
