We just love this place- the food is just like we had when I was a child in NC. Cheerwine was the drink of choice back then and still today- The ribs we soooooo good I bought a slab to take home to the family
City Barbecue is subpar.
On a couple of occasions I have had their "North Carolina"-style BBQ, which, besides being almost impossibly flavorless, indicates that the proprietors of City BBQ have never set foot inside of a BBQ restaurant anywhere in the State of North Carolina. The owners need to take a weekend roadtrip to NC and get to places like Lexington #1 & Wilber's--for the little I know, it probably gets even better than those places--to discover how far off course they have flown with their stuff.
The regular pulled pork is pretty similar, except that they do not add the very un-North Carolina-like slaw on top.
The sides are gloppy and uninteresting.
City BBQ adds insult to injury with their faux-hayseed decor and atmosphere, which perpetuates the absurd stereotype that all BBQ restaurants down south look like barns.
City BBQ gets a bump up to two stars because the staff is friendly and the service has been quick.
This is not the best BBQ in cincinnati i've had way better. I had the smoke chicken breast and it was kind of dry. The cobbler tasted like cornbread with fruit add this is not how cobbler is made. you want to taste good cobbler go to flo's downtown she wa featured on oprah. I also had the mac and cheese which was cheesey but still kind of dry if you could imagine that.
