Best deal out there!
The last time I was at the Parkade Cinemas was a very long time ago indeed. Bell bottoms were the rage, as well as volkswagon bugs... I rode in one to get there, listening to Elton John sing Crockodile Rock on an eight-track. We went to see Grease. I think it cost $3.75 to get in, and we were careful about that - it would buy a tank of gas.
Well, as we all know, the world has changed dramatically.
I still wore bellbottoms yesterday, and yes, VWBugs are still cute.
The new tween movie rage is High School Musical (where no one swears, relinquishes intellect for popularity, drinks irresponsibly, drives irresponsibly, or engages in any adult behavior before adulthood)... but I drove.
Other than that... prices went up by $1, and the kids behind the counter have gotten much younger (one actually was seven - there to help Mom)... it was still a trip to the movies, and to add to the experience it was magical. We saw Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium. The movie was good, the seats were the same... but the best part was going back, parking conveniently, and after popcorn, drinks and treats for a family of 4, we still had enough money left to pay for the gas it took us to get there.
It cost about $35 for our family of 4 to have a complete movie experience.
No Traffic.
No Condiments a mile from where they sell the hotdogs.
No long lines.
No impersonal service.
Just... the movies... just like it had been when I was a kid.
I loved it!
Thank you to the brave mom and pop who have reopened this wonderful place. I never thought I would miss it, and now regret waiting so long to go back.
Very nice theater. Looks small but has many showings. Reasonable prices. Centrally located. Brings back memories of my youth coming here to see movies. I'm glad they decided to open again.
