OMG! I am such a fan of Tom but what a HUGE dissapointment. The food was excellent. Ordered a $68 steak and had a couple of bites. Was staying at the W and tipped $50. Asked if the left over could be sent to my room as I had to check into Ghost by a certain time plus I wanted bone for my pooch. We were assured this would be done. I mean the bell man was 5 feet from the restaurant door. Never showed. So I complained I mean come on. They said oh we will take care of this but let us by breakfast for you. Our breakfast was $150.00. So I am think we arent asking for our money back just give us a new steak. Not a $16 breakfast steak a $68 dinner steak. The manager was out and have yet to get back in contact. I agree with other reviews. You can find better service in Dallas who would be humiliated if we were not 100% satisfied and fall all over themselves to make it right. Its not like we are being cheap! But I feel Craft treated us like homeless folks.
Slow UNRESPONSIVE service: We had a group of 12 on a Tuesday evening when the place was not full. We did not enjoy the sharing concept for that size a group. We asked that desserts be served individually -- not for sharing -- and were assured that they would do so. But our wishes were NOT honored. I was shocked that such a adamant request by a whole table was ignored. My main was also served, after 2 inquiries, when everyone was finished. Peter's dessert was placed at the opposite end of the table. The food was good and if I would only return (unlikely) I'd only go with a single dinner partner because I found the whole "sharing" concept a distraction to a relaxed meal. I rate it average for "10" food and "1" service.
The Perfect Meal: What a great way to start the evening. We arrived a few minutes after our reservation for dinner at 7:00 PM and were greeted very warmly and with a smile. The place filled up quickly after we were seated but we were never neglected. We never needed to ask for refills as they would suddenly appear before we knew we needed more. We really enjoyed ourselves. We indulged and ordered a variety of things. We started with the Yellowfin Tuna, Hamachi, and Veal Sweetbreads. Great presentation and we were only sorry we couldn't eat it all. Next came the Kobe Steak and New Zealand Venison Saddle with assorted mushrooms, Summer Squash & Ricotta Ravioli, and Gnocchi. The Kobe Steak was ordered medium rare and was cooked just right. The New Zealand Venison Saddle was cooked in a blueberry sauce that we thought was divine. My friend loves mushrooms and was impressed with the wide assortment as well as the execution of the mushrooms. She also thought the ravioli was slightly undercooked but still good enough to eat every bite. We both were floored by the Gnocchi. Absolutely sinful and decadent. A real pleasure. We finished off with the Blueberry Crisp, Oatmeal Streusel & Pistachio Ice Cream and the Brown Butter Crepes, Texas Peaches & Sweet Corn Ice Cream. The sweet corn ice cream was very interesting and the crisp was sweet but not too sweet which is so difficult with blueberries. Loved the pistachio ice cream. It was a shame that we couldn't every single morsel of this wonderful meal but thankfully they box it up for you and have it waiting for you as you are leaving. The servers were attentive and treated us like relatives. Relatives they like. One of our servers had started only 5 days before and we commented that we couldn't tell from his excellent service. The hostess also came by and visited with us. The ambience could only have been improved by the rest of the diners that didn't seem to be enjoying themselves as much as we were although not for any obvious reasons. Not alot of smiling faces. The amuse bouche that came before and through the meal were delightful. Real treats. We loved the smooth, dark tables and lighting. Just enough light and the decor was very inviting. The price is appropriate for what you get and we thought it was worth every penny. The valet service was $5 with validation from the restaurant. It was a great meal. Wonderful food, excellent service, and the best company and conversation. Couldn't ask for more but to go again.
