User Rating: 4 out of 5 starsI had to switch from Cox Cable to Embarq. I have not regreted my switch for a second. I finally have reliable internet and phone service.
User Rating: 1 out of 5 starsThis is the worst telephone service I have ever had...the packages are ridiulous....the internet is crappy and the customer service reps are incompetent....I cancelled my service and they continued to charge me...take it from someone whose dealt with them....Avoid Embarq

JUNE 2ND 2008
WOW! I recently cancelled my bundle pack with Embarq because of horrible internet connectivity as well as horrible bundle pricing when compared to Cox. After I cancelled they went ahead and withdrew a extra payment. Thats right. They took a extra month even tho I already had cancelled a month earlier. I had to call them to get them to refund me. Then it took 2 weeks and a second call to get them to send a check. Timeline. Cancelled in March 1st. Charged for april recieved refund on extra payment in mid april. THEN....I recieved a bill for long distance phone calls that I made. These charges dated back to December of 2007. Why are they barely charging me now. On my bill it says "do not send payment" because they will draw it straight from my bank account. No problem. If I made the calls then I have no problem paying however I was annoyed that I recieved a bulk check upon cancellation rather than month by month. Shady bussiness practice people. I recieved another bill from embarq saying they are going to withdraw the bill amount on June 9th. Why did they not take it the first time around. THEN...I get a call from a collection agency saying Embarq acquired there services to collect this money. WTF?!?! I have to call embarq to make immediate payment and I am told by there people AFTER I pay that THEY made a mistake and the bill should of been auto withdrawn. WOW! I paid this bill but I will not be surprised if they somehow forget I paid and withdraw it from my account again.
People there are much better services to use out there. Don't take a chance with Embarq. They have very shady practices. Don't take a chance that they are going to negatively affect your credit score in a credit based country. Check the date at the begining and BEWARE!
