Animal Supply House may at times have a pet smell as you walk in the store, but the staff try to keep everything clean and smelling good, I often walk in the store and find a blond cleaning shelves, and another blond cleaning and singing to the birds. I deal with Troy on fish and recently Josh the two seem to know alot about fish and how to care for them, if you ever have a problam after talking with ither one of the guys it's because you did,t do what they said. The casher is always friendly and often cleaning the puppies. Give the store it's due they provide a service to the area much needed I may add, they re-home kittens for a small fee and some puppies for 299 or under. some times you can get a new best friend for 25.00 so if the store smells like animals da it has animals in the store. just as a fast food place will smell like there product. I will always shop at animal supply I hope they stay around for ever.
When we first started coming to North Myrtle Beach, my family was interested in finding a place where we could bring our beloved companion animals. Naturally this also led to a search to find a store where we could purchase supplies for said animals. The places we tried first were dirty, overpriced, and the employees were not helpful - in fact, it was almost as if they did not care at all. (Luckily I believe the worst one we encountered has since been closed.) Then we saw the Animal Supply House which we immediately checked out.
Being an extreme animal enthusiast, I am sensitive to animals being kept in conditions that degrade them. At first I was not impressed with some of the cages, especially in the reptile section. However, I am proud to say that the Animal Supply House has had a turnaround, introducing a complete remake which keeps the cages from being overcrowded and/or too wet.
This store is the only place I buy frozen pinkies and fuzzies for my young hatchlings because they are the only place that does not overprice. In addition, if you call ahead, the employees will do what they can to insure that there are pinkies/fuzzies available for you. I have done this once myself, and when we went, there was a neatly folded bag waiting patiently in the back of the freezer labeled with our name with the exact number of fuzzies requested.
Our family would hate to see them go especially when their quality and the helpfulness of the employees have surpassed what we have experienced in other stores. They have always been kind and willing to answer any questions. Even when I was not seeking any help, I have had pleasant conversations as I strolled through the reptile/insect section. If it was not for them and the employee who put up with my mom and me going through every single corn snake hatchling, I would not have my little Aedan, and consequently, I would not have Adiana either.
My family and I will continue going to this store in the future.
This is the poorest quality of care for retail pets I have ever experienced. The smell when you open the front door is enough to knock you down. There have been numerous complaints; not sure why they are still allowed to sell pets. Animals did not have food, water & sitting in urine. Is this the standard for N. Myrtle Beach?

Vera pets don't need to be free fed as they can be at home, this helps to controle when the puppies poop and pee. if you had any idea on how to care for a pet you would know this. the store is smelling better and smells the best at 10 am when they open.
