I would normally recommend Dr. Beers however I had a very negative experience with his office recently. I normally order my pet's medications through 1-800 PetMeds. I recently placed an order for heartworm preventative after obtaining a mandatory annual heartworm check. I got a notice from PetMeds indicating Care Pet has rejected sending in their approval for the prescription. I called to ask why since I just got the heartworm test done in their office less than a week ago. The office staff told me that Dr. Beers instated a policy to charge $10 per pet per year of medication for anything that is not purchased through them. So I asked if they carried the specific heartworm preventative that I had ordered which they indicated they did not. They carried the more expensive brands which received the same reviews as the one I have used for years. I asked why they are charging me $10 to simply fax in a confirmation especially since they don't even carry the preventative that I want to purchase and they just said they do. To me, I find this very shady. I had recently brought my pets in for 2 dentals + microchipping + heartworm tests, spending more than $440 in one trip. If he is supposed to be a good and low cost vet, then why is he trying to stiff his clients by putting in this extra charge? You judge for yourself.
