We just returned from our first visit to Bangkok Hill. It was hands-down the best Thai meal that we've had in 15 years. It's a cozy, unpretentious place with a few tables on their porch, and a picnic table outside. Inside it's small, clean, and well decorated. The tables were probably a third occupied. The hostess was inviting and made us feel at home.
We had the Thai Rolls, Pad Thai with shrimp and chicken, and Siam Madness, which is a moderately spicy seafood assortment. The food arrived surprisingly quickly. The rolls were hot and delicious, accompanied by a subtle sweet sauce with herbs. Immediately after we finished the rolls, the Pad Thai and seafood dish appeared, with a small cone of rice in a bowl. They were just delicious.
I took a bit of the the rice, but soon realized that I didn't want to dilute the wonderful taste of our dishes. The rice remained untouched after that. The Pad Thai was delicately seasoned, and not greasy at all. The Siam Madness was out of this world. The salmon was tender and melted in our mouths. The calamari was perfectly cooked, not tough at all. The mushrooms had absorbed all of the incredible spices.
We'll be back without a doubt. Unfortunately, quality Thai restaurants don't have a record of success in this area. We can only hope that they put down roots.
I love this Thai restaurant in Lunenberg! I especially liked the scallion pancakes, pad thai, chicken curry, and steamed ginger fish! Not only is the food good, the service is quick too!
