Was visiting Batavia yesterday (Wednesday July 8, 2009) and this place was recommended by a local that I'd met earlier that day. So at around 5:30 we (me and my 2 kids) arrived and were shown to one of the booths. The place looked decent enough, nacho's arrived together with salsa (salsa was excellent - very fresh tasting) Ordered drinks...no problem...then ordered food from the extensive menu...all good so far... The food arrived in a fairly short time, but then sadly our experience took a downhill turn... My son and I ordered a large combo fajitas for 2, but when it arrived we each received a foil wrapped package containing just 2 medium sized tortillas. I was a bit puzzled as I've never been to any other Mexican restaurant anywhere in the world, including Mexico, where just 2 tortillas were served with a large pile of fajita filling on a griddle. The place started to fill up and then it seemed impossible to attract the attention on any of the staff. Eventually I had to walk up to the bar area to ask for more tortillas. We waited 10 minutes and then finally one more foil package containing 2 tortillas arrived. I said to the waiter that there must be some kind of mistake as I'd asked for an additional 6 tortillas not just 2. The waiter said so you want 4 more then and walked away. 15 minutes went by before the additional 4 tortillas arrived, by which time the food on the griddle had gone cold. All in all what had started off as a promising experience ended up being very disappointing. I had to wave and call over one of the waiters to ask for a refill on our drinks otherwise we would never have had anyone back at our table. After we had finished we waited and waited for someone to come and collect the plates, etc. and requested the bill. Another 10 minutes went by before the bill arrived and after further long wait for someone to come back to collect payment, I eventually walked up to the bar and asked them to process my payment. What food we did have was fairly good, but the service was absolutely terrible, which spoiled the whole experience. We will not be returning any time soon!

Enjoy this wonderful restaurant - we miss it terribly - but are coming back soon! :)

The food and service is consistently excellent, fast, flavorful, authentic! We used to eat there regularly and never had a bad experience. Their salsa is wonderfully spicy and a perfect blend of flavors (and as of 6 months ago, served free unlike some places!).

The fish dish is amazing! The other dishes as well, but the Pescado (forgot the rest of the name) is so unique and so delicious it's worth a trip from anywhere.

We moved to Brockport 6 months ago but after our recent experience with a 'Mexican' restaurant out this way, we'll be driving 25 miles to Margaritas each way to once again enjoy delicious Mexican food in a fun and unpretentious atmosphere!

Can't wait to go back - we've missed it!

Best Mexican place that I've found in Western NY. The food is authentic and fresh. You can smell the cilantro freshly chopped when they bring you your complementary salsa. Best place to eat in Batavia that I've found.
