My son took his Drivers Ed classes through Defensive Driving School in the university district two years ago. We moved to CA in the past year and he had lost his drivers license. The CA DMV requested a letter from his drivers ed school as well as a signature confirming WA courses are comparable to CA. When I called to request the signature and statement of his attendance I was told they would have to charge me $25. For each request totaling $50. When I asked why the high fee, the receptionist stated someone has to pay for extra clerical work and time. With this I am sure she is already paid an hourly wage for her clerical work. I made it clear I was only asking
her to receive a fax, have it signed and send it back. I was assuming haven already paid over $500. for the classes I would be accommodated as a previous client and not charged astronomical fees for a signature and statement of attendance.
I took classes through the Bellevue defensive driving school. My teacher was very good and patient with me. If I know anyone that needs to take classes i will refer them to this school.
I've heard from parents signing their kids up with other schools and end up having to purchase lessons with this school because their students weren't confident enough or they didn't learn enough. That is why I went with Defensive. They didn't let me down. My daughter wasn't let down either. She actually enjoyed taking driver's ed! And, of course she's an excellent and safe driver. Thank you!!!
