Great, friendly restaurant with a varied menu to suit almost any taste. This small town is lucky to have a local family and talented chef ( Max of the Maxican) who put great effort into a providing a quality meal at reasonable price.
Food: EXCELLENT to Outstanding
Service: Excellent
Menu Selection: Very Good
Cleanliness: Outstanding
Friendliness and Atmosphere: Excellent on first; Very Good on 2nd
We always take out of town guests to the Maxican. Not only are the bbq and steaks excellent, but the Mexican entrees are done extremely well, and don't pass on the tortilla soup it is great. Angels on Horseback are a shrimp delicacy to be treasured, just a little strip of jalapeno pepper so spicy but not "hot" and grilled perfectly.
The owners (chef and his wife) are always interacting with patrons to insure they are getting what they like and to insure food and service are of highest quality. It is old converted house, and like in a good old home the food is great! I have had a couple "good" meals here, many excellent ones and numerous outstanding ones, but never anything less than good top very good. And their margaritas are EXCELLENT too.
One of my favorite restaurants in Burnet. Converted house with lots of little "dining rooms". Sour cream enchiladas, barracho beans, and fresh guacamole are favorites. Family owned & operated, the hostess is chef's mother-in-law (at lunch anyway) and a delight! She comes around often to make sure everyone is happy & well-fed.
My wife and three teenage daughters ate dinner here during spring break vacation. It was recommended by the Holiday Inn staff as the best mexican food in town. We enjoyed the traditional margaritas, but they had a sangria margarita that sounded interesting as well as a couple of other exotic margarita choices. My daughters had enchiladas which they said were good (and they eat them all the time at other Mexican restaurants in Texas). My wife and I both ate the chile relleno which was good too. The service was attentive. We enjoyed the experience and would eat here again if in the area.
