great menu, very tasty food, relaxing interior, staff friendly and attentive,,, one of the best in town, I'm sooo glad to add this restaurant to my favorites list!!!!

A friend and I hung out at Savour, a restaurant on 29 next to Lord Hardwick's, last night and it was great. It's upscale but comparably affordable, food-wine-presentation-decor excellent and the owner, Ed, was fun and full of hospitality.

I have visited 12 countries in my life and in some of the most incredible food destinations in the world. That is why I am still shocked that I just had the best dining experience in my life in, of all places, Charlottesville, VA.

For those of you who are in search of a culinary orgasm like the one depicted in such films as Stanley Tucci's "Big Night," go to this unassuming resaurant for such an experience. The chef, Ed, is an Egyptian who worked for decades in France, Los Angeles, and Monterey before coming to Charlottesville more recently. He will personally come to your table to discuss dining options and custom make anything you wish because of his desire to make sure your experience a great one. We liked that he suggested that we not order a salad because, though he can combine some nice greens and veggies, he cannot cook salad. He wanted to cook for us because he knows he can bring the goods and his presentation is an art form.

Appetizers: My wife would not stop raving about the crab and shrimp salad. I got one bite and it was delicious. I went for stuffed squid which was presented like sushi. I loved it and liked that it was a unique dish.

Entrees: I went for the duck with a huckleberry sauce. Cooked perfectly and skin was crispy. The dish was terrific. My wife had halibut over a beet sauce which was not only beautiful, it was also well flavored dish which she raved about.

Desserts: I had the Cup o' Silk not realizing fully what I was getting. It was presented in the shape of a cappuccino. The cup, handle, and spoon were all edible. Whipped cream with chocolate shavings poured out over the cup which held mousse inside over a little bit of brownie. The wife went for some type of brulee dish which was a combination of creme brulee, bread pudding, and some type of Mediterranean dessert that Ed liked during his youth. Both were fantastic!

My wife and I each ordered an appetizer, entree, and dessert and split a bottle of wine. At the end we felt like we ate 5 star food for a 3 star price and had so much fun we closed the place down. The menu allows you to order app, entree, and dessert for $30. I plan on going back to Charlottesville for no other reason than to take friends and family to eat at this restaurant. Thank you Ed.
