I give Albertos Mexican Food 4 Stars for the simple fact that they are the only Mexican place with reliable eating food. We went there last Friday and the service was very nice and courteous. My eating companion had the rolled taquitos with the bean, rice and guacamole. This selection was by far the less inviting. What happens is they roll this corn tortillas and deep fry them and suppose to have meat inside. In this case the amount of meat was so insignificant that it mostly felt like one was eating corn tortillas by themselves. Worth mentioning that everything else that came in the plate was much better. The rice received positive comments from my hungry companion, the beans (which I tried a little) were adequate. The guacamole appeared to be pre-fabricated but what can someone expect for the low price since avocados are expensive. I had the Master Burrito and it was big. It was on special for $4.99 and included a medium drink. This Burrito or should I say, Burro, because it was big and filling, made a big impression at the table. The carne asada had been diced very small and there was not a whole lot showing in the selection. Still, with all these shortcomings they do deserve a higher rating than let's say, Taco Bell, for they are truly loyal to the mexican motif. Will probably eat there again but how soon? I couldn't really say. We ate good, had no pronounced after effects and like I mentioned earlier the muchacha attending the orders was indeed very nice and professional in her demeanor. Looks like Hurricane is growing and growing and it shouldn't be too long now before some real contenders will probably open for business and the population will benefit from having a wide array of culinary choices available. For now Albertos do not disappoint and that is a lot more than I can say about other places we have visited.
Update: Second visit a total disaster. Went from 4 stars the first visit to 2 stars the second. What is going on? No consistency of service and quality. Did a key player woke up on the wrong side of the bed before cooking, serving? Beans were old and overcooked to the point to be so dry the whole was just a hard lump. Enough said: if a mexican food place have trouble making appealing beans maybe they should try cooking chinese! Needless to say our last visit will be the last. Don't have the patience or the economy for all this trial and error! On the other hand I love Hurricane so this comment is no reflection of the city only of one restaurant that failed to deliver.
