| About: | Why take over an old Kentucky Fried Chicken? In the 1960s, KFC introduced America to the spork - the spoon/fork combo that became synonymous with fast-food culture. As our namesake, we thought we'd combine a low key, quirky atmosphere with really high quality food, single varietal wines and eclectic beers. Why not see if a multinational chain that served low quality, mass produced food could be reborn into something small, local and fresh while keeping its connection to American cuisine and history? Serving slow food in a fast food shell seemed like an interesting idea. |

Fantastic! We had really great service here and the food was awesome. The staff's recommendations were perfect, we were never disappointed. They also brought us some yummy desserts at the end that weren't on the menu - some japanese treats that were completely unexpected. Yum!
This little hotspot (formerly a Kentucky Fried Chicken, of all things) has become my favorite casz dinning spot in the Mission. They've got the diner-chic thing down, with quirky but delish dishes like "in-side-out burger" and "mussels and pork with a spork." The staff is friendly and efficient (although the service was a tad slow the last time we were there). It's small, so make sure you make a reservation, even on weeknights. And make sure you ask about the name -- it's a funny story.
Spork is our favorite spot in the Mission, if not the entire city. Hip, yet unpretentious. The staff is great and the food absolutely speaks for itself. Imaginative entres, great (free...ya' hafta' ask for them) rolls, and I dare ya' to try the Elvis Has Left the Building for dessert and not become addicted, and I don't even like dessert all that much. The menu changes quite a bit, so there's always something new to try.
