We stayed in Gatlinburg recently (03/12/09) and did not know what to expect. The cabins are about 7 minutes away from the main drag in Gatlinburg. The cabins were beautiful. The cabin we stayed in had a pool table, air hockey, theater room, and hot tub. It is a real time mountain cabin, practically brand new. The view was awesome. Although it was a little pricey, I cannot see how anyone could be disappointed with staying at these cabins. When we stayed it rained for almost all the time, so the amentities were greatly appreciated. We hope to go back this summer. Try to get a cabin off by itself, as there are others which are right by others; you never know what kind of "neighbors" you will get. When we were there, a few spring breakers were in the same area, which wasn't necessarily best for my wife and I with our kids. Anyway, 5 stars; it was next to perfect.
These cabins are brand new and VERY nice. I was surprised that it only cost $120 per night for the beautiful two-story, two bedroom, two bath cabin that we rented for a week (named "diamond mine").
The night we were driving in we were going to be arriving late (driving from Louisiana)so one of the resort's employees had given us an after-hour number to use since we would be arriving after the office closed (at 6pm). We had some trouble finding our cabin at first because there aren't any markers next to the driveways, and also no lighting on the roads inside the resort. After leaving several un-returned voicemails with the help-line, we finally found our cabin...thank God they had previously given me the code to the key pad because there's no way we could've gotten inside since the operator wasn't returning our phone calls.
Also, most of the cabins are not as secluded as the website describes. Our cabin's porch overlooks the porch of the cabin next to us (which is only about ten feet away) and last night there were a bunch of college students that had rented the cabin. My husband and I were trying to relax in the hot tub (which sits on the second floor's balcony) but we had to go inside because they were being so loud next door. My husband and I are young also (both in our mid-twenties) and understand that they were just trying to have fun, but this went on well past 3am. I tried to contact the office because they were so loud that we could hear them inside the cabin, but I just got a voicemail for an operator that never called me back.
Then today I tried to contact the office again in order to find out where they were located in the resort because we have to check out in two days(still don't know where the office is located and haven't spoken to an employee since we arrived here days ago) but an answering service picked up instead. I told them that we had driven around the entire resort and that there were no signs or directions to the office, and they told me that they (the answering service) was located in Florida and couldn't help me. I asked for a local number to the resort office and they told me that there wasn't one, that I would just have to continue calling until the resort employees decided to answer. Otherwise the number would just continue to go to the answering service. Because of these aggravations I feel that this 4/5 star resort deserves a three-star review. Unless management improves, we will not be staying here again.
When something is done RIGHT, you can just tell. The staff and developers of Elk Springs resort have gone the extra mile to be sure that they have a great product.
If you are looking for a great vacation in a secluded setting with all the amenities and comforts of home, THIS is the place for you.
My wife and I visited in May 2008 and stayed in the Chalet D' Amour - our first anniversary trip in 8 years. It was perfect!! Check in was very easy - no waiting in an office for someone to shuffle through papers. The cabin was well provisioned with all appliances and utensils that you need. Recreation was easy with 4 TVs, a pool table, foosball table, and an xBox 360. And I'd be crazy to leave out the Jacuzzi tub and the 18ft tall rain shower. Very clean. Very nice. We hope to go back very soon.

I do know what you are refering to; the representative for the company did not immediately know the location of our cabin. We also had a few minor problems, which weren't resolved, but overall the cabin was great.
