We were excited to try this restaurant out. Would normally not venture out to Graham, but had too because of word of mouth that the food was spectacular. I'll start by saying I made a reservation since we had over 10 people in our group and we wanted to go on Saturday evening. When I phoned back that day to say that our group would be smaller, I was told that they, in fact, do NOT take reservations...that someone in the restaurant must have taken them in error (?). We nonetheless showed up on Saturday evening and were seated promptly at a nice table, I was thrilled because I have a 7 month old and they provided me with a "sling" seat that holds the car-seat and is very user friendly and seen at many newer restaurants. I was happy to see that the childrens menu had many varieties to chose from for the other younger children in our group, however the prices were a little on the steep side for kids meals. The hostess could have explained the difference in the three menues on the table as she sat us because when the waiter arrived to take our drink order we were still trying to figure out the three menus were all about. He had to explain that one was the daily special, the other was the normal restaurant menu and the third was the childrens menu. The drink menu was at the other end of the table, so we asked him to please come back as we hadn't gotten that far yet!
Shocked to find out the Flying Tom. didn't have a changing table available for us parents. It's probably the only restaurant I have ever been too that doesn't provide one. Even as a new restaurant!! Get with the program Flying Tom. owners. Don't provide cool sling seats, a fine childrens menu and not offer a changing table!!!!!!!
I felt a little silly leaving my group to change my infant outside in back of the SUV but heard from someone parked next to me that they see it all the time!
Drinks came out fast, the beer was cold, wine was great and martini strong. As planned we all ordered differently. I wanted to try the marinara and mizithra cheese noodles with a caesar salad. The salad leaves were a bit on the wilty side, but the dressing was great. As a cook, I could tell the noodles had not been salted when cooked, but they did taste fresh. The marinara was good, very fresh tasting, the mizithra and brown butter was not good at all. I was expecting better than what the Spaghetti factory offers, but it wasn't even close! The butter was not browned, just melted to point that the bottom of my plate seemed like a lake of butter that my noodles sat on. and the lack of cheese made it worst! My husband orderd the Seafood plate and was dissapointed to see that prawns were more like shrimp size portions. The others in our group ordered different items that they had been recommended by friends that had been before and were equally disapointed with the dried out chicken and lack of sauce on the pasta's. The rosemary bread and sundried tomato/garlic butter that accompanied the meals was very good, could have come out warm instead of cold tho. Normally I wouldn't give out such a bad review, however we came to this restaurant with such high expectations, and left so disapointed. Our server was incredible. Darren was probably one of the best servers we have had in a long time. He replenished our drinks, made sure we had extra napkins, offered desert, was just on top of everything. Unfortunately when we check out new restaurants we most likely come back if the food is spectacular and the service is mediocre rather than the Service being spectacular, and the food just mediocre. We are wondering if it is because the chef was off that night??? We were truly looking forward to finding an alternative italian restaurant other than Mama Stortini's or the Spaghetti factory, but it looks like we did not.
#1 best thing about our experience was Darren who again was the best server ever!

my name is Chris Walker my father Gary Walker started the Mama Stortini's here in Puyallup and is now the owner and manager of the Flying Tomato Italian Grill. this Resturaunt is his dream come true. he has worked very hard for this dream his whole life. and to this day he is in there every day working 12 hour to 14 hour days. the food there is awsome hands down im sorry you had a bad experience there perhaps its because your to high class for a nice family oriented establishment. (who orders beer wine and martini's then drives with there infant kid) i think you should give it another chance to prove to you how great the food is there as well as the service.

Really...is your response your idea of customer service??? Do you really expect customers to return (or go at all) after reading that? Sarcasm and insults have never been high on the Customer Service training list. I am on my way there tonight for a fundraiser for my daughter's school. I hope your attitude isn't reflected in our evening. I'll let you know...

Excellent pizza, great ambiance, great wine, great service! It's a little off the beaten path if you live in Tacoma or Puyallup, but well worth the drive. The owner / manager, Gary, even stopped by and said hello to us, which was a very nice touch. I should also say that while I don't always go to an Italian place for steak, their flat-iron sirloin was simply amazing last time I was there!

I ordered the "Build Your Own Pizza." It was nice, and I had no problems with it. I prefer Amici's, but this was an invite, so I ventured to FTIG. While there was nothing special about the pizza, I did find it tasty. The Martinis are strong... almost too strong, so if you like a sore throat, than order a few!
