Joe Jo's Pizza & Gelato

My adult daughters and I spent the day in Door County. We were extremely hungry when we discovered Joe Jo's Pizza and Gelato. We were the only costumers in the restaurant when we arrived. Very friendly, owner, I'm assuming, waited on us. As our pizza arrived, first thing we noticed is that the crust was burnt. As we ate, we also noticed that there was hardly any sauce at all on the pizza. Having only cheese and fresh mushroom, that pizza was way over baked. Being the only patrons in the restaurant, there was nothing from keeping the cook, owner, from checking our pizza. Very disappointed in our food..probably worst pizza we have ever eaten. More than likely will never return to Joe Jo's. So sad!

It was our first time there and what a treat.

The perfect place at the perfect time.

It was the end of the day and we were all shopped out. We didn’t want to go out for dinner. It was cold and windy and we just wanted to go back to the cabin and build a fire.

We love pizza but had never tried Gelato. We ordered our pizza for take out, they have a large dining area, and while we waited for our pizza to be made and baked we were educated all about Gelato. We were offered several samples of “freshly made today” and told that we could mix two flavors in a dish.

So we ended up with four flavors that were wonderful, filling and so much more satisfying than any ice-cream.

We took our pizza home and it was perfect. If you have never tried pineapple on your pizza I recommend it as well as the apple and brown sugar pizza at the Northern Grill & Pizza in Sister Bay but I digress; our only complaint was our fault. We should have gotten a bigger pizza.

This was an impulsive stop that was very pleasant experience. We watched about three “locals” stop to pick up their phone in pizza orders in the twenty minutes we were there.

This is a friendly family run establishment that we will be visiting again.

Next time we hope to dine outside with our pet in warmer weather. 10-1-2008

The owners and staff were very friendly. The pizza was extremely good. And the hours were especially convenient.
