Second time that I've ordered clothing and my box has been ripped open while in transit with UPS, and this time someone at the Maspeth branch apparently helped themselves to part of my order. I've contacted the sender, a major retailer, twice and asked them not to use UPS for shipments throughout Queens, because as long as they do, I will be extremely reluctant to use a service that has ripped me off and consistently endangers customers' merchandise by leaving it on the street, or lying about when they've attempted delivery. This is a shameful excuse for a business. What the hell is the matter with UPS for letting these clowns ruin their image?
Ordered something on-line,shipped by UPS 2 day air on,Thursday 10/22/09.Delivery was scheduled for Monday 10/25,waited all day[lucky to be on vacation this week],no package,checked the UPS website,where an "exception"had been placed for an undeliverable address.
I called the toll free customer service,and the man told me to contact the sending company[why?they don't have the package anymore],anyway I confirmed my address with him,and had delivery rescheduled for the next day [Tues. 10/26].
Tuesday the exact same thing happened,called 800# again woman first wanted me to go to Mapeth for pick-up[how do you know if it's there,or on a truck?],then charge an additional $6.00 for re-delivery,finally she rescheduled for Wednesday,tracking # address was correct,but said she would have someone from Maspeth call within an hour.
Woman called from Maspeth,told me the driver said my home address was incorrect,[my street leads into another one while the house numbers continue in series],I gave her a road map description, there seemed to be a discrepancy but,she said she would speak to the driver,when he got in,call back,and I could direct him to the right location for the next day.
She calls puts the driver on,and he claims the address on the box isn't the right one[BTW,the order was placed with a debit card,and the bank wouldn't put the charge through without the right address],it seems he decided I don't live on street x,but street y,and he was instructed not to deliver to an "incorrect" address.
Well that finally got straightened out,and afterwards 1 more person called to again confirm my address.
Wednesday 10/25/09,waiting for the package again ,see 2 UPS trucks pass by in the morning/early afternoon,mid-afternoon truck stops in front of house,driver comes to the door with the package,and I'm expecting him to ring for a signature[it was insured],all he did was open the screen door,leave it between the 2 doors,and walk away.
Poor experience with UPS,although admittedly some of the employees,were more helpful in this process,than others,

Above parcel left your local (Maspeth, NY) station for delivery at around 8.30 a,m. today (10/20/2009) and supposed to be delivered to me between 9.00 a,m. and 5.00 p.m. I was waiting for it till 9.30 p.m. and but not being delivered. Then I checked your website tracking and was shocked to see its contents read as "Person Not Available to Sign; Scheduled for redelivery". The delivery man didn't come this site for the whole day and noted an utterly false remark. It is a lie. Very unprofessional for person entrusted with safe delivery of valuable parcel. It was a waste of time and disappointment for me. This was the 3rd time since August 2009 and 2nd time since October 2009 that your deliveryman playing with my parcels.
Please treat this complain seriously.

I work at UPS Maspeth, and I can tell you that some of the drivers ARE lazy. Your best bet is to order something using one of the services other then UPS ground I.E (2nd Day Air, Or Next day air). Many people don't know this but if you use these Services and the packages don't arrive in the time they say they will You can get a full refund.
