What we've been waiting for. I finally checked out Simply Thai this Tuesday after originally spotting it about 3 weeks ago. I went in for lunch and was surprised by the decor inside; very modern and high-class. Please note, however, that this is strictly a carry-out only restaurant.
Very friendly owner greeted me with a big smile and we talked while I waited for my food. I ordered the Basil Chicken lunch special and a Pomegranate smoothie. I began smelling the basil and spice blend on my way home and it was too much to bear - I ate a potsticker in the car and just about finish the deliciously refreshing smoothie before getting into the door. Food was really good. Good sized portion also, as I was able to split it with my mom as she was jealous. We were both equally satisfied by the flavor, fresh veggies, and generous strips of chicken in the dish. It was not very spicy, by my standards, but had a bit of a kick and Rich basil flavors with a sweet accent. Pot stickers were served with the lunch meal.
As a former waiter at a great Thai restaurant, Thai Orchid in Madison, WI, I can be critical of any Thai food that doesn't live up to those standards. Simply Thai did not disappoint. Will return very soon to probably try a spicy red curry.
