I am a citizen of the Golden Triangle and in my opinion Meats and Eats is a treasure amongst southeast Texan treasures. I've eaten there and at many other places that offer bbq and I prefer to NOT purchase bbq from anywhere else in the Golden Triangle. M&E has something to offer to the community and thats a friendly and homely atmosphere with a professional and warm attitude with spectacular cuisine. Everytime I've been in M&E I was given the treatment every single time: a warm smile, great food, great customers and honestly I feel like Norm walking into "Cheers". I'm not from Bridge City and my family also owns their own BBQ establishment in Beaumont and I prefer to go Meats & Eats. The owner has been able to combine the taste of the French Southeast Texas cuisine methods along with traditional "Texas" barbeque smoking to create an experince so spectacular that I will NOT purchase barbeque from anywhere else. As far as any other bbq'ers out there, Meats and Eats should be the prime example of to prepare, and maintain a Class "A" bbq eatery.
I'm sorry guys but R.Critic sounds like a person that doesn't take time out to actually visit places that he loves to dog out.
Let me first say that I rarely defend ANYTHING, but when I read 'Restaurant Critic's' lame shot at Bridge City Meats and Eats I wanted to strike back. Heck I'm not even from Bridge City, and wanted to defend the Bar B Que joint. But I let 'Restaurant Critic' make it b/c I'm an understanding person like that.
And speaking of joints and understanding, maybe 'Restaurant Critic' should UNDERSTAND to get the taste of the JOINT he smoked out of his mouth before he makes crack-headed comments about a fine Bar B Que place like Meats and Eats.
Who's your Daddy now (rhetorical question just in case you didnt get it.)
This is the best place to get REAL fall off the bone bar b que ribs. I think the food critic must be working for JB's because there is now way the MEATS and EATS ribs fall short on expectaions. The sauce is made there not watered down store bought. I think it compliments the flavor not overwhelming it. The sandwiches are huge and not FATTY. Try one of thier huge chop brisket potatoes. The are actually made from chopped brisket, not chopped whatever you can find beef. Their hours are MON-FRI 10a.m.-7p.m. nothing tricky about that.
