"I am 60 years old, and I have a mouthful of plenty of dental work by numerous dentists. I am convinced that Dr.Roger B.Knaphus is not only a very thorough, competent dentist, but I think he’s the best I’ve ever been to. He diagnosed a painful problem with a bridge that two other dentists couldn’t see, and fixed it perfectly for me. His routine exams are more thorough than any I have had previously. I recently moved to Oregon , but I intend to schedule my Washington visits so that I continue to benefit from his excellent dentistry." ... "I just had a dental appointment here in Portland, Oregon. The dentist examined my teeth and he had only one comment about all the dental work in my mouth; he said “that bridge is absolutely excellent dental work.” A few minutes later he commented about it again to his assistant, and called it “that beautiful bridge.” Of course, Dr. Knaphus did that bridge. I had a strong feeling that Dr.Knaphus is the best dentist I’ve been to, but this dentist’s comment just proved what I knew all along! This is a great place to get Dental Treatment. I am almost an expert dental patient. I have gone through 8 different dental offices in the last 7 years and the doctor there is one of the most caring dentist by far. I had my tooth pulled by the Dentist. He was very gentle and it didn't hurt at all when he pulled my tooth out. The doctor was very thorough about post-op instructions. THE assistents Stacie and Aline are very nice and they all are very good with kids as well ...
I had nothing but pleasant experience at A-1 FAMILY DENTISTRY !

My whole family - myself, DH, and two 2.5 year-old toddlers - just visited Dr. Knaphus, after seeing the 5-star reviews here. For the toddlers, it was their first checkup ever. For me, it was my first visit in six years (no insurance), and for DH, it was his first visit in . . . well, a very long time indeed.

Dr. Knaphus handled our laxness in our dental health gracefully and encouragingly, and didn't come across as nagging, preachy, or pessimistic. He was great with our toddlers, and did a full cleaning for one daughter - who did get upset, but calmed down once he started "playing" with the tools with her. The other twin threw a fit, but still got some tooth care - and better yet, is really excited about the dentist despite the fit. Our daughters have been very excited to have their teeth brushed and flossed ever since - and, since the dentist kept the visit very positive, DH and I are excited about being able to help them (and get our own dental hygiene on track again as well).

The assistants were both great as well, and everyone seemed pretty cheerful. I'm actually looking forward to my next visit - fillings and all.
