Much along the same lines as the last post by horse sense girl, I also had to leave the barn abruptly...within hours! The horses well being was at stake and therefore had to be removed immediately.
The former barn manager, Kelly, did an amazing job caring for the horses...treating each and every one of them as if they were her own.
Until ownership of this property changes I would NOT recommend taking your horse there, which is a shame for such a beautiful facility!

As with every change in management there are two sides of the story. This is pure Internet gossip! You choose to believe what Kelly told you which happens to be untrue. Such a horrible place...wow...horses and boarders stayed and their horses are healthy and they are happy. I would not be posting negative things on the Internet without knowing the facts.
I had been boarding at this stable all summer but had to leave very abruptly, when the Barn Manager Kelly had to leave due to threats against certain animals of hers. I was a nervous wreck until all the horses had been removed and was afraid that something could happen to one of them. I and most of the others have every intention of following Kelly to what ever barn she takes ends up.
It is a shame that a barn in such a beautiful, peaceful location is having problems like these yet again. Obviously having a great manager is not going to change anything.
I have been taking lessons at Twin Lake acres for about two years now. I first started out taking hunter/jumper lessons but decided to begin learning dressage after being introduced to it at college. The facility is beautiful and the barn staff is very friendly and helpful. Kelly is a wonderful trainer who has taught me a ton about the world of dressage and has never left me second guessing my abilities or made me feel unwanted. I sometimes come on my own to ride one of the lesson horses and no matter what time I come the stalls are clean, the horses are happily munching, either in their stalls or on acres of grass, and the horses are clean and well taken care of. I have been to other barns in my past and on comparison I do not notice anything lacking in the care for these horses. The horse I currently am using is actually a little on the pudgy side, and seeing as there are no skinny or underweight horses currently at the barn, I do not know where these claims of skinny horses is coming from, unless these horses were overweight to begin with. Could it also be possible these supposedly starved horses were always underweight, or were just in the process of acclimating to their new surroundings? Anyway, I can say nothing but positive things about twin lake as an outsider who had this barn recommended to me by a friend. There is not a doubt in my mind that if I ever buy a horse in need of training or for whatever reason need to keep it at a barn instead of my own home, my first choice of barns would be Twin Lake. The barn staff is very accomodating of me even if I come later in the evening during feeding/turnout time. As for the negative reviews posted before me, not everyone has a good experience at a barn, but before you go off and try to leave a bad rep for the rest of the horse world, maybe you should take your issues up with the barn staff again. If you had a problem with them in the past, it was most likely a misunderstanding that could have easily been resolved if you had given them a chance.
