I had been boarding at this stable all summer but had to leave very abruptly, when the Barn Manager Kelly had to leave due to threats against certain animals of hers. I was a nervous wreck until all the horses had been removed and was afraid that something could happen to one of them. I and most of the others have every intention of following Kelly to what ever barn she takes ends up.
It is a shame that a barn in such a beautiful, peaceful location is having problems like these yet again. Obviously having a great manager is not going to change anything.

I have been taking lessons at Twin Lake acres for about two years now. I first started out taking hunter/jumper lessons but decided to begin learning dressage after being introduced to it at college. The facility is beautiful and the barn staff is very friendly and helpful. Kelly is a wonderful trainer who has taught me a ton about the world of dressage and has never left me second guessing my abilities or made me feel unwanted. I sometimes come on my own to ride one of the lesson horses and no matter what time I come the stalls are clean, the horses are happily munching, either in their stalls or on acres of grass, and the horses are clean and well taken care of. I have been to other barns in my past and on comparison I do not notice anything lacking in the care for these horses. The horse I currently am using is actually a little on the pudgy side, and seeing as there are no skinny or underweight horses currently at the barn, I do not know where these claims of skinny horses is coming from, unless these horses were overweight to begin with. Could it also be possible these supposedly starved horses were always underweight, or were just in the process of acclimating to their new surroundings? Anyway, I can say nothing but positive things about twin lake as an outsider who had this barn recommended to me by a friend. There is not a doubt in my mind that if I ever buy a horse in need of training or for whatever reason need to keep it at a barn instead of my own home, my first choice of barns would be Twin Lake. The barn staff is very accomodating of me even if I come later in the evening during feeding/turnout time. As for the negative reviews posted before me, not everyone has a good experience at a barn, but before you go off and try to leave a bad rep for the rest of the horse world, maybe you should take your issues up with the barn staff again. If you had a problem with them in the past, it was most likely a misunderstanding that could have easily been resolved if you had given them a chance.

I kept my horse there for a short period of time and he lost alot of weight. The quality of hay was poor, and I came to the barn diffrent times of the day and my horse had no hay and was starting to pick up stall vices. The outside water tubs were always full of slime. The place is beautiful, nice pastures and rings, just needs better management it's a shame.

I have had my horse at this barn for about three years and can't figure out a horse who has left with less weight than they came with or with any stall vices!! The hay is of good quality and the care is superb. Buckets in stalls are cleaned daily and pasture troughs once a week. I have been asked frequently if I am happy with my horses condition and have input on the amount of grain he is fed. I am extremely happy with the care of my horse and the barn is full of other happy horses and boarders. Look at the horses on the property, you can't fake good care.

I don't think you have the right farm. My horse has never been happier. The care of these horses goes above and beyond. Everything is clean and fresh everyday, cleaning of tubs and buckets are done on a daily basis. Hay quality is great and they have acres of pastures to eat all day. Everyone there is friendly and we all care about all the horses I have never seen anything go unnoticed the barnhelp is fantastic and the people that run the barn will do whatever they can to accomodate you and your horse. We have a very skilled instructor and trainer that is patient and kind with the horses as well as the students. It is a very relaxing feeling knowing that my horse is happy and well cared for if anything they are all too spoiled.

Whew!! I totally agree with Tomboy! The stalls were always a mess, hay was terrible but most of all the management of the facilities (which are very nice) is completely inexperienced and unprofessional. Also I would like to warn any potential or existing boarders...do not voice any complaints of any kind to anyone or you will be asked to leave. There is a whole fraternity of people kicked out of this place. God forbid if you should mention that your horses stall is a mess to a fellow boarder. People lurk behind corners listening to your conversation. Then you are scolded and asked to leave even though you help with the horses, basically don't cause any other problems and always pay your board on time. Management is not very knowledgable on the actual day to day care of horses. I don't know who wrote the rest of the reviews besides Tomboy's, but I suspect it is the management itself. Of course, this is just my opinion!

Everyone is entitled to their opinion,I have been there for some time now and I just can't believe you are talking about the same place as I am. You seem to really be bitter but obviously aren't positive of what you are saying because you say the management is nice and then in the next breath you say you have been scolded and spyed upon and kicked out. You must have the wrong farm if I have any questions or concerns for my horse I can talk to Kelly or Dennis and you know what they don't want anyone to be unhappy. The only problem with my horse is she is too fat and always has shavings all over her from sleeping in her comfy clean stall. I am a boarder not management. Since I have been there Noone including myself Has ever been treated badly. Everyone there the boarders, owners and management all enjoy eachothers company and attend holiday parties, ride together, and just talk horses. As far as I can see and know of the barnhelp and management they are all highly knowledgeable and still continue the education of horses by going to lectures and clinics and classes I know because I have gone along. Noone knows everything and I can appreciate the fact they all are always willing to further their abilities as horse people by attending clinics and classes and constant research on the quality of horse care and training. Once again a long time boarder.
