Having been hooked from the first meal the week this restaurant opened, thought I'd leave a review based on hundreds of amazing meals at this awesome restaurant.
Disclaimer: we're cajuns from south Louisiana and have a genuine addiction to our "home food!"
I've been trying to figure out the best possible comment I can leave for this restaurant.
This is my attempt: On any given visit, we are surrounded by a sea of regulars that come every week; week after week. The people we've come to know from waiting in line with them and dining near them (week after week) are almost without exception people who have traveled, and therefore dined, extensively and genuinely adore and appreciate the subtleties and character of good food, fine wine and great service. These are people who are overjoyed that Carroll County actually has one truly fine dining (which tends to mean fancy names, nice decor and high prices in this area) experience for them.
Gabe is a master chef by any definition, but his true gift is that of saucier. Whether savory or sweet, the man can MAKE A SAUCE! I truly believe he could elevate shoe leather into a feature dish with a spontaneously created sauce!
Have you dined in the great restaurants of New Orleans, New York, Ca. coast, D.C., Austin, Atlanta, Denver, Dallas, not to mention the fine dining overseas? GO TO GABE'S and enjoy yourself!
I have no relation to Gabe other than devoted fan. I will receive nothing in exchange for this glowing review other than a happy feeling knowing that other lovers of fine food will be introduced to this great restaurant.
p.s. our family members who come to visit from Louisiana will only eat at Gabe's after trying literally all of the restaurants in our county.
Gabe's Downtown is a rare jewel in small town Villa Rica. This restaurant is definitely worthy of a Buckhead location. The food is nothing short of spectacular -- my husband and I have eaten there many times, and every second spent there has been most enjoyable. My in-laws, who have eaten at restaurants all over the world, dined there recently and gushed over how delicious the food was.
The owners leave no detail to chance. The entrance is adorned with potted plants and is very welcoming. The interior is unmistakably French Quarter, with black wrought iron fixtures and festive Mardi Gras masks adorning the French vanilla colored walls. Silverware is rolled in black napkins, and food is served on large white plates -- a step above the normal dining experience that is typical in our small town.
Prices are very reasonable, especially considering the outstanding quality of the food. Lunch entrees cost between $9 and $10. My personal favorite is the Chicken Prosciuto Pasta with the corn macque choux. The only disappointing experience I have at Gabe's is leaving.
Awesome food and atmosphere. I have eaten at the some of the best in the World and the food at Gabe's is up there with them. The only drawback is that they do not take reservations, so be prepared to wait on the weekends.
