Like the warmth of a friendly neighborhood eatery where the booths are occupied by local high school kids, young families and retired couples? Doc's Blue Moose in Spring Grove is just such a gem.
The warm decor will welcome you - pictures of past and present athletic teams and music groups from the hometown highschool on the walls, a dining counter made of boards from the old bowling alley lanes and a huge mounted moose head on the wall all serve to provide local flavor to this great restaurant.
You will feel like you're one of the regulars when you're greeted by the smiling staff who are happy to make suggestions and answer any of your questions. You'll want to settle in and stay for hours in the big comfy booths or, if the weather is nice, out on the back deck. Like to be right up front where the action is? Belly up to the counter and chat with the staff as they prepare their orders in the shiny stainless steel kitchen.
Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner you will certainly find something on the menu to satisfy your tastebuds. Great coffee and espresso drinks are available and nicely complement the homemade desserts.
Be sure to try one of the flavored sodas made locally at the Spring Grove Bottling Works (since 1895!). Just like the old-time soda jerks, the staff will mix up your choice of flavors ranging from strawberry or black cherry to orange or rootbeer (and others). Look for the brightly colored syrup bottles on the countertop.
Be sure to save room for one of the hand-scooped ice cream flavors or other homemade desserts. If you like chocolate try the Zanzibar chocolate ice cream!
Whether just passing through Spring Grove or making a special trip to the area, be sure to stop in at Doc's Blue Moose, right on the main drag, in the charming little town of Spring Grove, MN.
Food is casual, but TERRIFIC. Service is cheerful and energetic. Worth a trip from anywhere to enjoy the nostelja (sp?) of high school or local small town days. Perfect food, great ice cream and smiles that make you feel at home. Affordable!!! Big town style with small town spirit. DD Thurmer
Ice scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream. You'll love the ice cream at Doc's Blue Moose. Try it. Dean
What a delight. Traveling for hours and miles, little did we expect so much in this small, charming town. The town at a glance spoke to years of memories but the food at the Doc's Blue Moose spoke to a hungry tummy, right NOW. Worth the stop. Frank and Eleanor
