If you go to the DCCA web site they are license to do only transmission, not brakes, engines nor other types of service to your vehicle. You might be getting yourself into something you might not get out of. And according to AAMCO's policy they have to follow the Hawaii rules and regulations. You all might want to investigate first before making your choices to go to this repair shop. Beware.
Well Allison, we had much better luck.
We had been hunting for a shop open on Saturday some where near Hawaii Kai, so I could talk to the folks when we dropped it off. Wayne was very helpful to schedule us in.
Our '95 Camry had a delay in engaging in Drive the first time driven in the day. They did a 'diagnostic', informed us that there were worn parts, and recommended a 'service'. This was $150±, which made it run like brand new. Although he said it would need a rebuild in the future, there was no pressure to do so now.
I asked him about taking it and driving it for awhile (after the 'service' was complete); he agreed that was a good idea. A good expereience for us. And you can take it in on Sat AM... just call ahead of time.
[Much better than Kaimuki Toyota who said "needs a new trans axle"... when questioned about possible repairability, the mechanic got surly - whoo!]
Don't know what's wrong with your car? Neither does Aamco! Our car had something wrong with it, so we took it to them for the diagnosis. What they diagnosed it with was not what they ended up doing. They went ahead and changed the clutch without notifying us. Needless to say that did not fix the problem. Our car still has the same problem and they are telling us now that it never could have been what they diagnosed it with in the first place. We have no way of knowing if our clutch was ever bad and they are telling us to trust them. Now they want us to bring our car back into them. How can we trust them when nothing was ever fixed?! If you would like your car to have work done on it without authorization and still not fix the problem go to this Aamco.
