When i spoke to the managment on the phone about rent prices, and amenties i thought i was getting an unbelievable deal for the price. Unpon paying extra deposit and getting no move in special as promised i discovered that there where no ammenities as promised. No basketball court, tennis court, volleyball, playground or picnic area. Hell it took them 3 months to get the pool going due to health violations. After discovery of no fire exstinguisher, no proper ventilation system, and dryer vents in an internal setting i was horrified to know that i had signed a contact in which i may burn alive in a building improperly built. Management is the worst i have ever expierienced. Brownstone would be perfect if you were 65 or older and did not care about the outside world, as the grass has grown to over 12 inches long. We were also informed they will not spray for bugs, nor assure that they are kept out of the apartments. My children where yelled at for riding bicycles, and walking around the complex. I think the management may be better at selling cars at a used car lot than taking care of tenants. The electric bills were distributed by management, which she sold as an amenitiy in which would never have to worry about a high bill. My first electric bill was 180.00; although i was not allowed to see my usage. More than likely i was assisting her in paying her cadillac payments with that money. When asked simple questions such as when can we expect to use the playground, etc. every sentence began with "Wellllll"....and some lame excuse that was not well thought up, only filler to make us happy for the moment. She never offered me a move in inspection form to assure that my ass was covered, only promised i was getting a new apartment that no one ever lived in; although there were holes in the walls and deffinet signs that someone had lived there before. Going home was like going to serve my daily sentence at benton county, on a work release program. Go inside and pray that my kids dont make noise or do anything that would cause the managementto leave a notice on my door. I strongly recomend careful thought into your decision to sign a lease with Brownstone Villa and worse yet LaVonne Hazelwood, manager; it is similar to signing a marriage license to someone to beats you on a daily basis and steals all your money.
to whom ever may read this review i hope it will be helpful in making your decision your next place to live. If you have a young family this IS NOT the place for you. if you wish to deal with a person who reminds you of a used car salesman, they patch it up and talk like you are buying a bmw and when you get in it, it is a pinto. so many promises have been made about this place and not one of them have been kept. your children are treated like prisoners in their own homes. they can ride their scooters, skateboards, they can not play in certain areas. for that matter most of the areas are unsafe to play in. the grounds look like we live in the slums but we pay for the ritz. after moving in i later found out that the apartments are not up to saftey code. if you like swimming with dead mice in the pool then yeah this might be the place. every person pays a different amount for rent. she may tell you that you are getting a "move in special" but do the math before you sign you are getting screwed. we also have black widows in and outside(on the porch) that they will not spray for. this place should be shut down. there are so many complaints about this placethey do not allow me enough space to write. but if it is a safe, clean, friendly staff(manager)or hell even a place that is up to code then this is not the plce for you. but if you choose to ingore these remarks and you come to look at this place than just talk to some fo the people that live here. and if she tells you that the playground and basketball court and volleyball court will be up in a short while then don't believe a word these things have been promisied for over a year. so please think hard.
These apartments are NOT energy efficient. When signing the lease we were promised to have the playground, pool, billiards room (with big screen television), sand volleyball and basketball courts. The only thing we have as of June 12, 2008 is the pool. The buildings are poorly constructed and the yard maintenance is of poorer quality. They advertise that the only bill you pay is the electric bill. The “manager” reads your meter monthly and provides the bill to you by taping it to your front door. Since we have lived here, the electric bill has NOT been under $100. This is absolutely ridiculous. Half the buildings aren’t even finished. I have been exchanging information with the other renters and have found that the rents differ from person to person. Unless you are in dire need of finding a place NOW, I would definitely NOT recommend Brownstone Villa Apartments. We, along with other tenants here, will be vacating soon.
