We had dinner there, on Sept 13th, the waiter was outstanding and the food was reasonably priced and quite good. The only downside was the girl who worked in the wine tasting room was one of the rudest and unprofessional people I have ever met. When we asked a question about a certain vintage it was as if we were being a bother and her only response that she seemed to mumble was "Uh Huh" over and over with that annoyed attitude and look on her. I would not go back there just due to that experience as it made for an experience that I don't want again.
The people at Crush 29 are doing it right! It just might be the most exciting restaurant in the Sacramento area!! Everything is amazing....the service, the atmosphere, the wine, and especially the food!
When my husband and I go out to dinner, just the two of us; we have high expectations and want the evening to be perfect. Last night at Crush 29....that's exactly what we got!
The minute you step up to Crush 29 you feel like you've been transported to a hot downtown San Francisco restaurant, with Napa Valley comfort and style. You step into a young, trendy crowd that looks as "hot" as the restaurant. You could stay outside and get caught up on all the hottest looks in shoes and clothes or go inside to sample the extensive Crush 29 wine list. Although our table was ready, we headed for the wine tasting room and found the perfect Cabernet for our meal. The bar was slightly crowded and the music was pumping and there was a celebratory feel in the air just perfect for my birthday dinner!
This was my first time at Crush 29, and based on past experiences with other restaurants, was a little apprehensive about portion sizesâ¦with that we ordered two appetizers, the Panko Encrusted Calamari on a crispy asian slaw and a spicy sambal aioli and the Dungeness Crab Rangoons, crab wrapped in a wonton with delicious pineapple chili dipping sauce. Both were incredible and the portion sizes were very ample much to our surprise. We boxed up a good amount of the Calamari to take home.
The meal continued in the amazing realm, when Lisa our server brought out my Crush Salad. It was so sweet and delicious with candied pecans, cranberries, on a bed of spring mix with an amazing poppy seed dressing and banana chutney. OMGâ¦.that is a salad to die for and thatâs really good coming from normally a âtake or leave itâ salad gal.
For our main course my husband had (a hard time making up his mind what he was going to have) the Boneless Short Ribs on a bed of polenta with baby carrots. The server brought him a steak knife, but he didnât need it. It was so tenderâ¦it was literally like butter. The best part was the incredibly rich red wine-espresso reductionâ¦mouth watering. I had the Grilled Filet Mignon with a porcini cream sauce on Crush smashed potatoes and crispy onion strings. Again it was incredibly tenderâ¦.but the sauce was what separated my steak from any other I have ever had. When I exclaimed to Lisa; âOMG howâd they do this?â she brought over the executive Sous Chef (the assistant of the executive chef) who told us what went into the planning that resulted in this incredible experience. Then as if we werenât totally impressed he bought us dessert. Dessert truly was the culmination of a great meal. Although we were pleasantly stuffed we managed the Chocolate Bombâ¦.which was âthe bomb.â
I can not wait to get back to Crush 29â¦the portions were just perfect, the prices were reasonable, the crowd was âhotâ and food was amazing.
It was an incredible night!
FOOD WAS AVERAGE. I HAD THE SHRIMP NAPA FOR MY ENTREE. ALTHOUGH THE CRAB/ CHEESE WONTONS WERE VERY TASTY. I DID NOT LIKE THAT PAYING GUESTS NEED TO FOLLOW A DRESS CODE BUT THE HOSTESSES CAN WEAR TUBE TOPS AND MIDRIFTS. I THOUGHT IT WAS VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND CLASSY FOR THIS TYPE OF RESTAURANT.
