This "casual fine-dining" steak-house opened a few years back right next to Back-Forty Seafood Buffet. It's owned by Mike Stone, the local fire chief (he also owns a convenience store and is well-known and loved throughout our community).
A few months after the restaurant opened, my husband and I decided to give it a try...and were we ever pleased! While the food is a little pricey (we usually spend about $40 for an appetizer, entrees, and drinks), you get what you pay for. The food is delicious and the service is excellent. My husband always comments that his 10-ounce sirloin strip is "melt-in-your-mouth good" and I LOVE their grilled catfish dish. They also have good salads, yummy appetizers, and awesome desserts (try the Diamond Hill brownie or the totally heavenly peanut butter pie). My parents had dinner with us there last spring. My dad is very much a citizen of the world who has dined in some of the best restaurants on earth, and he went on and on about how great his steak was and then called us a few days later to tell us he really enjoyed that dinner!
Mike has hired a terrific chef. The crawfish sauce that comes with my favorite catfish dish is made from scratch every day by "the ladies in the kitchen" (whom I suspect are just ladies from our tiny town who love to cook). The local high-school students that serve as wait-staff are friendly, efficient, and extremely attentive. Another nice touch is that Mike himself will often wander among the tables chatting with folks--it's obvious he genuinely cares about his customers.
The restaurant is very close to the Interstate--if you're passing through around dinner time, it's worth a stop. (The one drawback--they're only open Thursday through Saturday.)
