Great menu and wine list. Wines are reasonably priced
We haven't been to the New Cookery but are looking forward to eating there a number of times in August as we have for the past 10years except last summer when the fire forced them to close. I will not be influenced by people who were disappointed the first weekend they reopened and by a son of a vegetarian who didn't think his burger was anything special. We have always gone there for the great breakfasts, nice sandwiches, fabulous hash browns, and my husband loves their walleye. We're so glad The Cookery is open again. We really have liked the owners and hope that they are still an active part of the place. See you in August.
The "New" Cookery has lost it's Door County charm. The seating in the new building is very tall booths for privacy which has never been a trait of the quaint county. The menu has changed and the favorites from the old resturant are no longer on the menu. The staff is lacking personality and the chef is lacking talent. The night I was there the chef "Forgot" to make the sauce for the chicken dish I ordered and they did not even notice until late into the evening. Even though it was their first weekend opening they were already out of items on the menu.
I did love the old Cookery but would not return to the new Cookery. It lacks what Door County is all about.
