Bayou is an example of getting it half right half wrong. The place is beautifully decorated and has great ambiance. Like many fellow bloggers describe, the patio is a must on a late summer night to conversate with friends or just chill. Atmoshere is what the 2JENKS got "right." What's "wrong" is the food which misses on the authenticites the name Bayou may suggest. The entrees are over priced, convoluted and a little disappointing (Not sure why I would want to pay for hot sauce shots either?) Drinks were fine, but I would expect nothing less from the Jenkins Brothers who are master purveyors of the eastside bar scene.

My suggestion for the owners. K.I.S.S. When I hear the name "Bayou", I want to invision simple comfort food at it's best, neither healthy or comprimising. I want to sit back to the swampy tunes of Galctic or The Meters while enjoying a "cold one" with out of town friends. Instead, I got a smorgasbord of "I told you we we're cool" decor coupled with the reinvention of New Orleans classics which is a big NO-No in my book. Imagine if you went to a classic German restaurnat in Milwaukee and it touted German Fusion???

The three stars I offer are a sentiment to the efforts the Jenkins have put into the wonderful build out of their restaraunt, again, which includes one of the great patios in the city. As well they have gone out of their way to hire a knowlegeable friendly, attractive waitstaff.

Now it is time for the Brothers to consider working towards complete product, food that stands up to the purity of the name "Bayou."

WOW!!! I had one of the best meals I have had in a long time at Bayou. My girlfriend and i stopped by on a Saturday night, with no reservation...the place packed and the deck was full! I explained to the host, that it was our first time there and he was so kind. Even got us a table on the deck! I had one of the chefs specials Scallops, my girl had blackened redfish,.....the drinks were great! our server was amazing (I think his name was Mark),,,,,we will definitely be back!! Thank you Bayou
