This is the second time I have eaten at the Civil Cricket. Previously I had one of the daily specials which I cannot remember at this time, but I remember liking the atmosphere inside and enjoying the wine selection and the food. This time I had the chicken salad which was wonderful in presentation and taste. Lots of chicken with nuts and fruit. Yummy. And the wine selection was very good. This time I ate in the garden and loved the relaxed atmosphere the garden allows.
I had read about the "Civil Cricket" on line. When I was at a convention in Washington, DC the first part of February I decided to driver out to Middletown and check it out. What a great place to eat! It was well worth the drive. Great food and a quaint atmosphere. I was greeted by the owner and his staff. They made me feel right at home. After a very delicious lunch the owner showed me around and told me his plans for the "Civil Cricket" Before leaving, he suggested I try one of his lattes for my trip back to DC. It was the best I've had! I'm looking forward to a return trip to Middletown, VA and the "Civil Cricket"!
Back in November of 08, my fiancée and I came upon this little gem of a restaurant through the suggestion of a friend. Since then it has become part of our weekend eating out routine. The food is above average quality with refreshing affordable prices. We have come to know "Rob" the owner as well as his staff and felt from the first day we dined there, not only did they want to please us as customers, they were interested in who we were and genuinely welcomed us back. There are approximately 6 seating areas two can accommodate a larger party. The atmosphere is rustic, eclectic, artistic with soft lighting, quiet dining and the soothing sound of romantic background music playing classics from the 40's, 50's and 60's. They have a consistent menu of delicious selections during the week. Friday and Saturday they head on upscale to formal meals priced from $10 and up depending on the specific menu items for that weekend. I highly recommend The Silver Cricket, you will with out a doubt walk out of there with a smile on your face.
