   My husband and I stayed at The Palms for our honeymoon in May. It was an absolutely beautiful hotel overlooking the gorgeous ocean. The bed was very comfortable and the room was just the right size. Definitely book and ocean front room...there's nothing worth looking at on the city side. I wish the rooms had balcony's, but the floor to ceiling windows provided a great ocean view.
   
   The service was great, just be aware that 18% gratuity is automatically tacked onto everything. The restaurant was good, but quite pricey. We walked to dinner several nights, but there are not many restaurants nearby. There are tons of restaurants within a short drive.
   
   We noticed several abandoned buildings in the area. Many of them appear to be under construction, so maybe the area will be nicer in the future. However, the area seemed very safe.
   
   Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and had a very relaxing time. Just be sure your wallet is full!!

   Beautiful hotel, good service. We stayed for 2 days after our cruise. Location is convenient, book only ocean view rooms. Nothing to see in city view rooms. The area is okay but there are some run down abandoned buildings around. Lots of construction nearby. This area was obviously the best at one time but not anymore. Better area further north on Collins Avenue.
   
   I was happy with the hotel and service except they would not allow us to check-in even 1 minute early even though they were far from booked. When I was in San Diego at Del Coronado they let us check-in 3 hours early! The Palms could have been a little more customer friendly.
   
   Beware of the stairs, always take the elevator.
